Description: TUNA IQULIQ (1935-), E2-167, Baker Lake KNEELING INUK, stone, signed in syllabics, 1981 as per date on tag, some abrasions, 6.5" x 5.5" x 6.75" - 16.5 x 14 x 17.1 cm. Note: Tuna Iquiliq's ability to animate his rotund figures with minimal technique is very apparent here. The kneeling figure has a slightly upturned mouth, suggesting a sense joviality. His foot and arm extend forward, as if to communicate with the viewer. The piece is at once without airs and with a powerful singular presence.
