Privately printed on watermarked San Marco paper in Philadelphia in 1922 and issued to subscribers. Plates and text leaves loose as issued in folio wrappers inside 3/4 leather and green cloth portfolio. Fifty-one pages from artist's original calligraphy plus Biographical Notes, list of Advanced Subscribers and Index with thirteen laid in color plates for the Governor's Reception Room and nine laid in color plates for the Senate Chamber. MEASUREMENTS: Folio. 23-1/4" x 16-1/2". CONDITION: Missing plate 17 from the Senate Chamber of the State Capitol. Some minor toning and wear to page edges most noticeable on wrappers. Some wear and rubbing to leather of portfolio with loss of leather and splits at top spine.

Description: DESCRIPTION: Thirty-four candid period photographs pertaining to the Yalta Conference and the trip on the USS Quincy February 4 to 11, 1945 attributed to Richard L. Sarno, the official photographer of the Signal Corps at the conference. Pictures include various candids of all those involved with the Yalta Conference including a "Big Three" image of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and General Secretary Joseph Stalin during their discussion of the reorganization of Europe post-war, well-known images of Roosevelt with Farouk of Egypt, and the Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie as well as many others. Partial Signal Corps marks visible to lower left of ten images. Included with the photographs is a typewritten list of the Saudi Arabian Guests from February 12 to 14, 1945 as well as an envelope inscribed, "U.S.S. Quincy, Yalta Cruise, Jan. '45" and "These are uncensored photos taken by the New York Times photographer & given by him to me. William B. Ball." PROVENANCE: William Bentley Ball (1918-2000) was one of the nation's foremost Catholic constitutional lawyers, nationally known for his defense of religious doctrine and practice against secular encroachment. He was assigned to escort a photographer on the USS Quincy while serving as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon disembarking the ship, Ball requested copies of the photographs from the photographer and several months later, this packet arrived to him in the mail. Collection consigned by Mr. Ball's daughter. The photographer was Richard L. Sarno (1902-1986). Sarno began his career in 1918 as a commercial photographer, joining The New York Mirror in 1924. He served as a captain in the Signal Corps in World War II and was the official photographer of the Corps at the Yalta Conference. He was appointed the Hearst news photography chief in 1945 and later became the director of still photography of ABC in 1960 until his retirement. MEASUREMENTS: Each approximately 4" x 5". Typewritten list 10-1/2" x 8". CONDITION: Wear to envelope with several tears and losses. Some very minor denting to corners of pictures with list having various fold marks and two small 1/4" tears at the folds.

Martin & Co. hardcase with plaque on side and with green plush interior. MEASUREMENTS: 40-3/4" x 15-5/8". CONDITION: Small 1" minor scratch on front of guitar near the pickguard.
