The side plate joints are very tight and free from nicks or pry-marks and the receiver itself has very minimal handling wear. The loading gate retains about 70% of the original niter blue finish. The brass buttplate has an attractive age patina and is very good. The hammer retains about 85% of the original case colors. The lever has a smooth brown patina. The stock and forearm have been re-varnished but are fine overall with a few light handling marks. This is a well above average example of a Winchester Model 1866 Rifle.
