Description: serial #1006582, 218 Bee, 24" round barrel with button magazine and a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains 90% original blue finish with most loss due to some light flaking toward the muzzle. The action retains 90 - 93% original blue finish with most loss due to light belly wear. The lever has flaked to mostly a smooth gray with perhaps 15% original blue remaining. The pistolgrip buttstock and forend rate excellent with perhaps a little light oil finish added. The rifle is sighted with a hooded ramp front, blank in rear slot and a Lyman riding bolt peepsight. A nice model 65 that will make a good investment, but isn't too minty to enjoy shooting once in a while. (16520-2365) {C&R} [Richard "Stretch" Kennedy Collection]

Marlin Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle With Extra Length Barrel

Lot 30: Marlin Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle With Extra Length Barrel

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: serial #263304, 32-20 Win, 29 1/2" part octagon part round tapering barrel with a bright about excellent bore. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 99% plus excellent quality restored blue. The frame, bolt, triggerplate and lever retain an identical amount of vivid color case-hardening. The stocks rate excellent as professionally refinished, both showing very lovely grain figure; indeed they may be completely new replacement stocks and are stunning. The crescent buttplate and rifle nosecap retain all their lovely restored color case-hardening. All of the screws, the trigger and the loading gate are a purple fire-temper blue. What is likely the original silver blade Rocky Mountain style front sight is intact as well as a flat-top v-notch rear and there is a Lyman tang sight in place on the tang. Factory records indicate this rifle shipped with a 24 inch octagon barrel, however we know Marlin records are not always accurate. The barrel does indeed appear to be old, one can find a few dings and a few minor pits beneath the finish. While the barrel may be from a different rifle, or a modern replacement, nonetheless it makes for a very attractive -and very neat- as-restored extra length Marlin 1894. (36616-1) {C&R}

It is a tarnished pewter and plum patina and has some traces of original blue around the circumference of the step, the cylinder rest pins are intact. The frame is very nice and shows perhaps 80-85% original color case-hardening which is very vivid on the frame flats, also with a few sparse scatterings of light oxidation; the recoil shields have toned to a silvery patina. Remington Keene Magazine Bolt Action Rifle

Lot 45: Remington Keene Magazine Bolt Action Rifle

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: 45-70, 20 1/2" part round part octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is an interesting rifle. The rifle features the action with the octagonal top rather than round and has had a neat alteration to rear of bolt with the hammer being removed and the back of the bolt milled smooth and with a Lyman folding peepsight added to the rear of the firing pin. Oddly, the left side of the action is hand engraved "U-S-I-D" but there is no serial number and we feel this marking is spurious. The stock is very nicely made and features a pistolgrip and coarse checkering and is reminiscent of Sedgeley's work. The metal surfaces of rifle retain about 85% old restored blue finish with the magazine being mostly a smooth brown. The rear sight has been removed from the top of the barrel and filler screws added. The stock features a steel grip cap and checkered steel buttplate. The condition of the stock is excellent with 95% of its original finish remaining and with sharp coarse checkering. This is an interesting rifle with a wonderful bore. Lot 47: Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Musket

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: serial #109293, 22 short, 28" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is a minty High Wall musket. The rifle is in superb condition and features factory close coupled double set triggers and what appears to be a factory installed Lyman 45 style receiver sight. There is no provision for rear barrel sight and there are target blocks in place on barrel and barrel address and caliber markings are offset. The metal surfaces of the rifle retain 98% original blue with just a couple light scratches on the right side of the receiver behind the sight. Breechblock retains strong original color case-hardened finish and the hammer, triggers and lever retain 95% of their original blue. The plain walnut buttstock and full length finger groove forend rate excellent with 95% original finish remaining and with light handling marks present. The rifle is equipped with original sling swivels. This gun letters as a 30" No. 3 weight Octagon 38-55 received in the warehouse on August 13, 1910 - however, there is no ship date and no order number. The proof on the top of the action is offset because of the receiver sight and this rifle looks as honest as the day is long. It is our belief that this gun was either reconfigured before it left the factory or the entry in the record book is incorrect. A very handsome, high condition 1885 High Wall musket.
