ESTHER MYATLOV - COMPANIONS

Lot 6C: ESTHER MYATLOV - COMPANIONS

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Artist: Esther Myatlov. Title: Companions. Medium: . Image Size: 11.5" x 11.75". Paper Size: 12.75" x 13". Limited Edition Size: 550. __________Artist Biography: Esther Myatlov?s favorite media are oil on canvas and oil on wood. She layers several thin coatings of transparent color on her chosen surface, a technique that requires much accuracy and skill. In this way, she achieves a strong illumination of the painting from deep within. She then uses fiery colors and unambiguous contours to convey a joyous atmosphere, with an ethnic-mythological flavor. The vocabulary of her palette is also characteristic of her realistic composition. It is light and rhythmic with romantic images making music, dancing or otherwise relating. The abstract landscape is but a background for the all-important dialogue of the delicate and elegant figures. Myatlov?s style symbolizes her realistic view of the world and its people.Esther Myatlov was born in Russia in 1976, where she graduated the ?School of Fine Arts? in her hometown. In 1995, she immigrated to Israel where she continued her art studies at the ?Avni Institute of Art? in Tel Aviv. During her studies, she experimented with classical Russian art and with contemporary Israeli art and fused them together to create her unique style. Among others, she has been influenced by the notable French painter Ona. She also mastered the art of animation and she has created numerous animated video clips for rock bands.Myatlov?s artwork is exhibited in many private collections in the United States, Russia and Israel. Her large murals are to be found in several public buildings in Israel, and her solo exhibitions have had considerable success with the public and the media.

Picturing the Past - Austin, Texas by Rod Chase

Lot 100S: Picturing the Past - Austin, Texas by Rod Chase

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Picturing the Past - Austin, Texas by Rod Chase - Edition Size: 295 - Canvas - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 17 x 34 Release Date: 4-2001 ???.As one of today?s finest and most recognized photorealist painters, Rod Chase has earned the highest respect of his peers and the admiration of legions of collectors. Each painting from the artist?s easel is a masterpiece created from extensive research and numerous photographs of each of his subjects. This technique, along with the aid of historical photographs, results in a timeless quality in each of Chase?s works. In his quest for mystique, accuracy, and a true sense of history, Chase does extensive research. His travels have led him from New York and Washington, D.C. to Colorado and California and finally to Italy in a never-ending search to obtain materials and photography for new paintings. The talented artist says, "Being a photorealist, I am dependent on finding accurate reference material for each painting.? Chase works with acrylics on canvas, spending hundreds of hours on each painting with the ultimate goal of presenting a fresh, unique, and elegant approach to familiar subjects. The detail in each painting is remarkable, but the mood each is equally impressive. Chase is acknowledged as a master of breathtaking scenes depicting our country?s natural and historical treasures. He has painted images of such famous landmarks as The White House, the Capitol, and the Supreme Court building to name a few. As a naturalized citizen, he felt honored as well as professionally challenged to paint these subjects. Chase also paints magnificent foreign landscapes. His travels in Italy inspired him to paint St. Peter?s Basilica and the romantic canals of Venice. The artist?s outstanding talent in his use of light is evident in "The Glory of San Pietro? and "The Mists of Morning.? Without traveling to these world-famous locales, the viewer is able to feel as if the scene is unfolding before them in person. Rising early to photograph the dramatic light of sunrise or awaiting the soft, moody glow of sunset, Chase captures the emotion and direction in which he will paint his subject. The artist will continue to create elegant, awe-inspiring scenes by combining antique and modern photographs with just the right touch of artistic license. Rod Chase is represented by Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art in San Antonio, Texas. He is published exclusively by Somerset Fine Art. Chase, a native of Canada, and his wife live with their five children in the Texas Hill Country. In 1999, he became a United States citizen.

VENETIAN GONDOLA SM

Lot 220O: VENETIAN GONDOLA SM

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: VENETIAN GONDOLA SM length: 17 width: 5.5 height: 5?.This model is simple, but stunning! It is a FULLY ASSEMBLED replica of a Venetian gondola. It looks and feels like a miniature real boat. This 17-inch model is handcrafted with the highest quality woods from scratch by master artisans using ?plank on frame? construction, just like real boats. Each model takes more than 50 hours to construct and undergoes a demanding quality-control process. Among the details of this boat model: black painted wood hull, boat house with tourist seatings, oar and oar holder, metal lanterns, brass sculptures, brass nameplate and beautiful stand. The boat is wood, through and through! The most famous and characteristic symbol of Venice is the Gondola. This boat represents a typical Venetian Gondola circa 1882. The gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian lagoon. For centuries gondolas were the chief means of transportation and most common watercraft within Venice. In modern times the iconic boats still have a role in public transport in the city, serving as traghetti (ferries) over the Grand Canal. They are also used in special regattas (rowing races) held amongst gondoliers. The gondola is propelled like punting, except an oar is used instead of a pole. The model now is rebuilt without the roof in the middle of the boat and used to carry tourists along the Venice River in Italy.

Description: James C. Christensen - Visitation/preoccupation - Hand Signed - Limited Edition Canvas - Image Size: 27"w X 20"h. Limited Edition Of: 375 - How Often Do We Find Ourselves Too Preoccupied Within Our Own Little Worlds To Realize When Something Truly Momentous Is Happening Outside Of Them? Are We Paying Enough Attention To Those Around Us To Really Hear What They Are Saying? Jim Christensen Created This Series ?winged Words? To Poke Fun At People (using Barbed Wire) And Get Them To Realize, ?yeah, I Do That, Too.? In This Extreme Example, A Very Self-important Individual, In All His Pomp And Finery, Fails To Realize The Heavenly Nature Of His Visitor Because He?s Just Not Listening. In Latin, The Angel Says, ?i Am Dead.? The Man?s Response To His Rather Uncommon Occurrence, ?how Do You Like My Clothes?? Underscores How Little He Is Paying Attention. The Pear In The Man?s Hand, One Bite Taken ?bordering On The Over-ripe, Is A Reminder That We May Not Have All The Time We Think We Do To Amend These Failures In Communication.??about The Artist - James C. Christensen Inspired By The World's Myths, Fables And Tales Of Imagination, James C. Christensen Wants His Work To Add Up To More Than A Beautiful - If Sometimes "curious" Looking Work Of Art. Having Taught Art Professionally For Over 20 Years, He Likes To Think Of The World As His Classroom. His Hope Is That Through Whatever He Creates-be It A Porcelain, Fine Art Print Or Book-he Can Convey A Message, Inspiration Or A Simple Laugh. He Believes That Teaching People To Use Their Imagination Helps Us Find Solutions To Sooth The Stresses Of Everyday Life-or Get A Little Lift To Help Us Keep Going. In Short: All Things Are Possible When You Share Christensen's Philosophy That "believing Is Seeing." Christensen Was Born In 1942 And Raised In Culver City, California. Smoky Mountain Grandeur - Mt. LeConte by Phillip Philbeck

Lot 340S: Smoky Mountain Grandeur - Mt. LeConte by Phillip Philbeck

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Smoky Mountain Grandeur - Mt. LeConte by Phillip Philbeck - Edition Size: 25 - Giclee on Canvas - Artist Proof Dimensions: 24 x 48 Release Date: 11-2012 ???.North Carolina is the home of renowned landscape painter Phillip Philbeck. His subjects, mountains, rolling piedmont, and coastal views, hold great appeal with magnificent vistas, wide sandy shores, wonderful spring and fall foliage. Born in Washington, D.C., but a resident since very early childhood and presently living in rural Rutherford County, the artist enjoys the surroundings in which he grew up and is inspired to paint its farms, streams, ponds, coast or anything to which he feels an emotional attachment.Painting from his comfortable studio in his home, the artist only has to venture outside to find inspiration for his next landscape. Philbeck?s canvases reveal his immense talent in a profusion of details, and he is especially known for the skies in his images."The sky sets the basic tone for my landscapes,? states the artist.Textures, shapes, and contrasts derived from many of nature?s wonders are painted in vibrant colors; with interesting juxtaposition, the artist bathes his scenes in a dramatic light and atmosphere.Although Philbeck very much admires realism, he has a tendency toward the romantic, emotional types of images such as the Hudson River School brought forth. Growing up, the artist drew and painted whenever he could. With a heritage of an artistic and creative family, Philbeck?s father, who also painted, encouraged his son and nurtured the budding artist?s talents.Although basically self-taught, young Philbeck attended college where he was mentored by instructors who saw a passion and talent that they encouraged the artist to pursue. At the age of only 24, Philbeck began publishing limited edition prints, with many releases having sold out. Philbeck has a natural attraction to familiar places and things. He recalls fondly exploring the wooded landscapes of neighboring hills and mountains of his childhood, and he puts these many memories on his canvases. The artist?s greatest enjoyment comes from knowing that viewers can relate to his paintings or be taken back to a time when nature was a new, awe-inspiring adventure. When he is not painting, Philbeck enjoys constructing his own stretchers for his canvases and also possesses the talent to create frames for some of his paintings. The artist sometimes enjoys relaxing moments creating music with his guitar. Join Phillip Philbeck in appreciating all that nature offers.Come to the mountains and piedmont and enjoy the spring and the fall. Take in the glorious coastlines. And all other times when the landscape blooms anew or when the fall colors take your breath away or the smell the salt air brought by gentle breezes from the ocean.Take in the beautiful landscapes created by this very talented artist.

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: A Cellar Favorite by Kyle Polzin - Edition Size: 195 - Giclee on Paper - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 14 x 24 Release Date: 11-2011 ???.Growing up along the Texas coast and also spending many happy days in the country with his grandparents gave Kyle Polzin much inspiration for his subject matter as a young artist. Working closely with his father to develop his talents, the artist started his training at an early age. Craftsmanship is a common thread in Polzin?s heritage; his father is a gifted artist and both grandfathers were skilled craftsmen. Along with an appreciation of art, Polzin?s family enjoyed the outdoors. The young artist has been influenced by the many childhood experiences of fishing the coastal waters and hunting and exploring the land with his father and grandfathers. Polzin was encouraged by his family to pursue painting as a career. Upon graduating high school in 1992, he began his formal fine arts training at Victoria College with an emphasis on oil painting. After graduating from college, the artist took advantage of many opportunities to enhance his talents. In 1996, he began instructional sessions with the master painter Dalhart Windberg, whose painting style has influenced him since childhood. This invaluable learning experience helped launch Polzin?s fine art career. With a palette of warm tones and serene settings, Polzin?s paintings are acknowledged as masterful compositions reflecting an Old World style. The artist?s talent for composition and his range of abilities allow him to paint a variety of subject matter ? from hunting and fishing and coastal scenes to wildlife and still lifes to western themes. Polzin?s works exhibit a combination of quiet strength and character that draws the viewer into his scenes. Whether painting beautiful flowers or memories of hunting or fishing trips, Polzin creates paintings that are striking images that leave a lasting impression. Polzin?s original paintings are represented by The Legacy Gallery in Jackson, Wyoming, and Scottsdale, Arizona, Port A Gallery in Port Aransas, Texas, and also by Southwest Gallery in Dallas, where, in 2007, he had his first, one-man show. All 27 of the original works exhibited sold on opening night. The artist?s beautiful works have been featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West magazines and on the cover of Texas Outdoors Journal. Texas Ducks Unlimited chose Polzin as their Sponsor Artist for 2006-07 for his painting, ?Hunters? Heritage.? Polzin?s works are also exhibited in corporate and private collections worldwide. The artist currently resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Leigh, and their young daughter, Kate.
