Ships From: Fairfax Station, VA US

Description: North America, Southwestern, Arizona or western New Mexico, Navajo, ca. 1950s CE. A very fine Navajo Yei (pronounced "yay") wool rug, woven with four elongated figures who are protected by a Rainbow Guardian, all in beautiful soft blue, chestnut brown, golden yellow, pale grey, charcoal grey, black and white hues. Yai is the Navajo name for supernatural beings who possess the power to bring about healing in medicinal ceremonies. Interestingly, yei compositions were initially created for sand paintings employed during these ceremonies. A wonderful pictorial presentation that clearly demonstrates its roots in Navajo sand painting, featuring a row of frontally-facing stylized stick figures dressed in ceremonial vestments and holding ritualistic implements, with bows and arrows set between them, and a Rainbow Guardian surrounding and protecting these figures on three sides. Surrounding the entire composition is a black and grey border featuring a lovely stepped pattern above and below the figures. A superb example in wonderful condition.

Western Bronze Sculpture, by Renowned Western Artist Jeff Wolf, Entitled

Description: “Working as a ranch manager of a 560,000 acre ranch in NW Colorado, I had the opportunity to see thousands of elk. Their bugling during the rut would keep me awake at night. “The Scent of a Woman” depicts a scene I witnessed while gathering cattle. I watched this Bull Elk sniffing the wind in search of a harem. Here as well in most of my works I used negative to compliment mirroring images. The negative space between the neck antlers and tree stump create a beautiful reflective mirror image, same with the space under the belly. (Note: 8 to 10 weeks delivery)

Description: Western Bronze Sculpture, by Renowned Western Artist Jeff Wolf, Entitled "The Wedding Ring", Available, Limited Edition, 7 of 20. The Wedding ring was inspired when I became a buckaroo of Northern Nevada. The buckaroo’s had unique styles of roping and handling a rope. Many perfected loops and tricks handed down from the old vaquero style of roping. The Wedding Ring is mainly a trick style loop that shows off the handler's skill a expertise with a rope. Some can get the loop spinning in a 40 foot circle, jump in and out of it and up over their head. It was my desire to portray this art in sculpture with flowing a beautiful design. Description: Western Bronze Sculpture, by Renowned Western Artist Jeff Wolf, Entitled "Surround":, Limited Edition, Cast To Order, 1 of 10, ??From childhood the American Indian has always fascinated me. They lived such a pure and free life. Their methods of hunting held a special fascination. I began to study all the different ways the Indian attained his food and came across the "surround". This seemed to be a very interesting and practical means of harvesting Bison meat. Later on, in my cowboy career, I managed a buffalo ranch in northwestern Colorado. It was here that I learned much more about the habits of the Bison, including how to stop a herd of running buffalo. If the Bison could be wrangled into milling in a circle, they could be kept circling for quite some time, or until they came to a stop.??It was about then, that I started dreaming about "The Surround”. That was sixteen years ago.

Description: Daybreak is a portrait of myself, my dog Blue and my good horse Benny. During my full time cowboy / buckaroo days it was standard practice on most ranches to start the day long before sunup. Sometimes we would trot five to ten miles before we even saw a cow. It was not uncommon to ride up to 40 miles on any given day and as many as 60. Some of the most beautiful and spectacular sunrises I have ever seen was in the high desert country of Utah and Nevada. Sculpting this piece brought me back to days of open country, the smell of sagebrush, good friends both two and four legged and all the memories I made along the way.

Pre-Colombian Chimu Black-ware Canteen Figure with Tumi Headress, #974

Ships From: Fairfax Station, VA US

Description: Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Chimu, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A fine mold-made black ware canteen vessel depicting a standing figure with arms raised and a tumi headdress (the form adopted from crescent shaped ceremonial knife) against a stippled circular panel on the front, with twin lugs attached to each shoulder, and a short neck with an impressed wave pattern around its base and a flared rim. Most lugs were pierced for attaching a canteen strap. The fact that the lugs are not pierced suggests that this canteen was created specifically to accompany the elite deceased in burial. The black finish of most Chimu pottery was achieved by firing the pottery at high temperatures in a closed kiln which prevented the oxygen from reacting with the clay. A superb example created by the Chimu culture of ancient Peru!

Condition Report: Very minor nicks to rim. Intact and in excellent condition for its age and use. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

Juana Leno was one of the finest potters of the 20th century at Acoma Pueblo. She quietly worked every day producing extraordinary pottery without seeking acclaim. She was a wonderful woman and very modest about her talent to produce such fine pieces. She may not have achieved the fame she was due, but it was not because of the lack of quality in her work, but because she chose to remain quietly at home and not seek fame." Alexander E. Description: Bronze sculpture, Rocky Mountain Trail Partners, Limited Edition of 75, made to order by James Regimbal. This spectacular bronze is a great depiction of men and women working together in the unforgiving wilderness of the west. The composition is showing the cowgirl leading out the pack train after a successful hunt. The man, riding a sure footed mule and leading out the meat-pack horses in the rear. The reason for the order in which they travel is simple; safety, this Grizzly Bear country after all, and bears can smell fresh cut meat three or more miles away. The two large dogs round up their entourage as constant guardians and protectors. The meat is packed and the two hunters are headed home in the rugged mountain country, so far, all successful for these two ''Rocky Mountain Trail Partners''.
