His paintings are typically non-objective works that are subtly constructed using the technical qualities of "design, color, value and composition" working together to please the eye. Description: A cut and welded sheet iron abstract sculpture attributed to Bill Bagley,a memeber of the Emporia State (Kansas) Art faculty during the 1960s. No signature can be found. Measures 96 inches in height (80 inches without concrete base), 30 inch width, 53.5 inches deep. This work was purchased directly from the artist in 1968 by Edward R. Lewis, Professor of Art, Central Missouri State University, 1962 - 1979. According to his obituary, Bill Bagley was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Henryetta, Okla. He was an associate professor of art at Texas Tech. He graduated high school in Henryetta and attended the University of Kansas, where he graduated with a master of fine art degree in sculpture. He received a bachelor's degree in visual arts from Phillips University. He did post-graduate work and studied sculpture at the School of Art and Architecture in Gandt, Belgium in 1972. In 1996 he received an honorary award from Emporia State University for development of a glass blowing program in 1969. In 1995 he was nominated for the Outstanding Faculty Member Award by Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society of Architecture and Allied Arts.

Condition Report: One of the pendants has been bent near its tip. The iron suspension ring that supports the horizontal hanging cross-member has worn through and will need repair for proper display.

The actual work measures 12 x 16 inches, and including the frame the overall measurements are 21.25 x 25.25 inches.

Description: A 1929 pencil signed etching titled in pencil 'The Listeners' lower right and signed and dated by what appears to be a different hand in the lower left corner. This early work is an unusual medium for this artist who came to Kansas City following the creation of this work. The regionalist influence lithographs created during DeMartelley's tenure as instructor at the Kansas City Art Institute are what is most commonly seen. This is a rare find. The image measures 9 x 8 inches with overall frame measurements of 19.25 x 17 inches.

This work is a classic Sandzen depiction of the intense colors and atmospheric experience of a late summer Kansas sunset. The overall measurements of the carved and gilded American impressionist picture frame are 27.75 x 30.75 inches. The work itself measures 20 x 23.75 inches.

Condition Report: Very good condition. No damage or repair, no inpainting, no loss of impasto, no scratches or loss of any type. No warping of the panel, no reduction of the panel, original untouched condition. Black light examination confirms that there has been no touch-up or inpainting. The frame has minor edge roughness and bits of loss.
