Description: Extremely rare and exceptional mallard drake, Chauncey Wheeler, Alexandria Bay, New York.  This is one of only two known mallards that exhibit Wheeler's detailed incised feathering on the back and around the tail; the surface is finished with a combination of scratched application and a finish along the sides, with what appears to be the wooden tip of the paint brush.

Condition Report: Outstanding dry original surface shows very slight wear and a superb patina; mint, unused structural condition.
