Condition Report: Additional comments, April 30, 2014: The gun has appropriate Fayetteville markings and is of the period. We have no reason to doubt its authenticity. There is a two-week right of return as stipulated in the terms of sale. We do not see any inspector's mark. The stock was broken at the breech and expertly repaired, using wooden pins, and has been revarnished. The fore-end of the stock has not been pieced. Additional comments added on 4/24/14: No markings on butt plate. Iron parts have dark gray patina. Pewter fitting on sling has rubbed a groove in the stock, indicating very long association. Sling has some fraying.

Condition Report: Confederate soldier's initials, "R.J." incised on right side of the stock, ahead of the lock plate. Label pasted to right side of the butt stock. Damaged in battle: lacks nose, front band, ramrod, and hammer; the muzzle is bent.
