ANGELINA´S PARADISE - CASSANDRA BARNEY

Lot 6W: ANGELINA´S PARADISE - CASSANDRA BARNEY

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Angelina´s Paradise - Cassandra Barney - Hand Signed - Limited Edition Canvas - Image Size: 26"w X 18"h. Edition Size:75 - ?At times I have had delusional ideas about surrounding myself with perfection and about how I defined paradise,? explains Cassandra Barney. ?I tried to picture what my paradise looked like. Is it a blissful garden where nothing ever happens? Does it smell like coconut and sound like trickling water and birds singing? Or is it something totally different. Maybe paradise is where I am; a place where the only thing at rest is my heart. It's a place where a lot is happening. Maybe it smells like dish soap as I clean the kitchen after dinner and sounds like raucous music, children discussing homework and my parrot who really wants out of his cage.? ?'Angelina?s Paradise' is not a place; it is how she chooses to perceive her surroundings. She has the wisdom to see Paradise about her. The idea is not all that different from my painting 'Be Where Your Feet Are.'?

The Omaha by David Mann

Lot 13S: The Omaha by David Mann

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: The Omaha by David Mann - Edition Size: 195 - Giclee on Canvas - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 45 x 20 Release Date: 6-2009 ???.David Mann?s life focus has been his interest in the Native American culture, horses, and art. As a child, the artist collected any Remington and Russell prints he found along with books illustrated by Will James, Paul Brown, and Wesly Dennis. Mann knows his subjects well from studying the history and culture of the Western Indian tribes. Born in Utah, the artist lived among the Southwestern tribes during a two-year mission in New Mexico and Arizona. During his time with the San Carlos Apache, Navajo, and Pueblo tribes, Mann absorbed layers of meaning that give depth to the human stories he tells. This unforgettable and invaluable time spent with the Indians allowed the artist to experience first-hand the stories, dignity, and culture magic of their lives. Mann?s paintings are alive in rich colors, remarkable illusion of day and moonlight, and energetic or quiet compositions. The artist seeks to capture the personal moment of truth and has the benefit of working with Indian and mountain men who model for him. Mann looks deeply into his subjects, envisioning the joys and sorrows that have contributed to the strength of a culture. The artist?s paintings are known for careful attention to detail including clothing, saddles, jewelry, and the many other symbols and accoutrements that are part of his subjects? cultures. The combination of heart and mind, and intellect and spirit is told in the dignified presence of the Native Americans featured in the historic settings in which the artist paints them. Mann?s images portray the spirits of the historic, as well as the contemporary west, usually depicting moments in time rather than historical events when deeply rooted traditions provided spiritual and physical sustenance for the Native Americans. Mann?s original paintings are highly collected. The artist participates in several annual art exhibits around the country; he has been the subject of numerous magazine articles.

Big Boss by Nancy Glazier

Lot 17S: Big Boss by Nancy Glazier

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Big Boss by Nancy Glazier - Edition Size: 595 - Giclee on Canvas - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 16 x 24 Release Date: 11-2011 ???.Nancy Glazier is passionate about her art and the subject of her art. This passion is evident in the way she paints and the way she lives ? they are inseparable. Surrounded by mountain beauty and the animals the artist loves to paint, Glazier says, ?I feel a kinship with the animal that grows as the painting progresses. There is a powerful chemistry at work. People ask me, ?Which is your favorite animal to paint?? I can tell you it is always the very animal I am painting at the time." For Glazier, it is ??a warm, living, breathing process that brings me back again and again to the easel. It is my ultimate reward.? Many of the artist?s admirers and collectors consider Glazier to be an extraordinary artist whose paintings seem ?alive.? For her, this is warm praise, because she desires to share what she experiences through her paintings. She hopes the viewer, too, will feel the warmth of the sun or the crisp chill of winter, smell the sage and dust, or hear the bellow of the bison. Glazier knew she wanted to be an artist from early childhood. In her teens, she lived in Wyoming where she immersed herself in the rugged, western terrain. There she was mentored and taught by artist Adolph Spohr, who gave her private instruction and taught her how a professional uses paint and brush?how to observe and self-correct. The artist?s style evolved over time. After seeing a dramatic photograph of a grizzly, she was awakened to a desire to paint animals ?close up and hair-by-hair.? The artist has taken hands-on anatomy classes that enable her to paint an amazingly accurate portrait of an animal from its bone structure to muscles to hair, bringing it life on her canvas. The artist enjoys much success as one of today?s most talented wildlife painters. Her original works are represented by one of America?s leading galleries. Her paintings have been featured at prestigious shows throughout the country, and two of her works hang in the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City. Glazier and her husband reside in an idyllic setting in Nevada where a spacious studio allows her to create her extraordinary paintings and continue her journey of discovery to capture ?the whole picture.?

Pillars of Freedom by Rod Chase

Lot 19S: Pillars of Freedom by Rod Chase

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Pillars of Freedom by Rod Chase - Edition Size: Open - Giclee on Canvas, Open Edition Signed Dimensions: 10 x 13.5 Release Date: 3-2010 ???.As one of today?s finest and most recognized photorealist painters, Rod Chase has earned the highest respect of his peers and the admiration of legions of collectors. Each painting from the artist?s easel is a masterpiece created from extensive research and numerous photographs of each of his subjects. This technique, along with the aid of historical photographs, results in a timeless quality in each of Chase?s works. In his quest for mystique, accuracy, and a true sense of history, Chase does extensive research. His travels have led him from New York and Washington, D.C. to Colorado and California and finally to Italy in a never-ending search to obtain materials and photography for new paintings. The talented artist says, "Being a photorealist, I am dependent on finding accurate reference material for each painting.? Chase works with acrylics on canvas, spending hundreds of hours on each painting with the ultimate goal of presenting a fresh, unique, and elegant approach to familiar subjects. The detail in each painting is remarkable, but the mood each is equally impressive. Chase is acknowledged as a master of breathtaking scenes depicting our country?s natural and historical treasures. He has painted images of such famous landmarks as The White House, the Capitol, and the Supreme Court building to name a few. As a naturalized citizen, he felt honored as well as professionally challenged to paint these subjects. Chase also paints magnificent foreign landscapes. His travels in Italy inspired him to paint St. Peter?s Basilica and the romantic canals of Venice. The artist?s outstanding talent in his use of light is evident in "The Glory of San Pietro? and "The Mists of Morning.? Without traveling to these world-famous locales, the viewer is able to feel as if the scene is unfolding before them in person. Rising early to photograph the dramatic light of sunrise or awaiting the soft, moody glow of sunset, Chase captures the emotion and direction in which he will paint his subject. The artist will continue to create elegant, awe-inspiring scenes by combining antique and modern photographs with just the right touch of artistic license. Rod Chase is represented by Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art in San Antonio, Texas. He is published exclusively by Somerset Fine Art. Chase, a native of Canada, and his wife live with their five children in the Texas Hill Country. In 1999, he became a United States citizen.

Since she started her artistic career, she has remained faithful to her realistic, classical style and her romantic and lyrical tendencies. Her first steps as a professional artist can be traced to her work with the artist Nahum Gilboa. Later she continued working with Moshe Rozentalis and then studied sketching with Prof. Shwartzman. Sutzkever has gradually perfected her style with the help of the Tempera-oil mixed technique, which she learned at Earnest Fox?s school in Vienna. Sutzkever possesses an innate talent which enables her to express a rich spectrum of feelings. The women in her portraits are beautiful, romantic and their delicate smile symbolized an aspiration to the indefinable. The flowers, the trees and the woods are painted expressively in the Pissaro style. The outstanding feature in Rina Sutzkever?s paintings at present concentrates on combining the beauty of reflection, fantasy and imagination. It looks as if the worldly objects intervene and penetrate one another and at the time disperse and vanish in the universe like a dream, Rina Sutzkever?s dream. After contemplating her painting for a certain length of time the onlookers? imagination is fully evoked and the mind experiences an unrealistic and unexpected adventure. Many well-known artists, such as Mordechai Ardon, as well as prominent people such as Mr. Shimon Peres, Israel?s former Prime Minister admire her paintings. Mr. Shimon Peres signed the visitors? book at one of Sutzever?s exhibitions expressing his appreciation in the following words.? an unexpected rich talent? a rare combination of feminine sensitivity and the true artistic technique?. a clever reflection of shadows and imagination?. a fusion of arrogance and delicacy.?The prominent art critic Miriam Tal ends her appreciation of Rina Sutzkever?s work with the following sentence. ?Life is an open book. Some artists ignore it, others seek its mystery, and others red in it with love.?Haim Rosental ? Painter, a teacher in the university, and former cultural consul.

Penduick painted

Lot 32O: Penduick painted

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Penduick painted26.5 width: 5 height: 30.7?.Built in 1898, the Penduick was one of the most beautiful sailing boats. Have it display beautifully as a home or office decor. Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. This model hull is handcrafted from strips of wood using plank on frame construction method. It is then painted in green and black with white waterline. The deck is beautifully planked from many strips of wood. There are various details on the deck such as hatches, winches, and cabin. Located on the deck is a metal tilter near the companionway. The stitched sail and intricate rigging complete the definition of a true sailing boat. The model is secured tightly on a solid wood base with a brass nameplate. The mast and sail are folded down for easy packaging and shipping. It?ll make a perfect gift for home or office decorator, boat enthusiast, or passionate collector. The 36-rater Pen Duick (launched as Yum) was built in 1898 by Cummins & Sons at the Gridiron & Marine Motor Works at Carrigaloe in Cork Harbour, Ireland, to a Linear Rating Rule designed by Scotsman William Fife III. The gaff-rigged cutter was quickly noted as a successful racer in Irish, British and French waters. Eric Tabarlys father acquired her when Eric was seven years old and the boy learnt to sail on her. After World War II, she was put on sale, but finding no takers, Éric convinced his father in giving her to him. Years later, he was told her wooden hull was rotten, and being unable to hire a yard to salvage her, proceeded to save her himself, making a mold to build her a new polyester hull: It was the largest of its kind at the time. He refitted her entirely, with a loftier rig for the southern climes. In the night of June 12 to 13 1998, Éric Tabarly fell overboard and was lost in the Irish Sea, while sailing the hundred-year-old cutter en route to the Fife Regatta in Largs, Scotland.

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Evening Light by Nancy Glazier - Edition Size: Open - Giclee on Canvas, Open Edition Signed Dimensions: 12 x 18 Release Date: 11-2010 ???.Nancy Glazier is passionate about her art and the subject of her art.

Passing Through by Jim Hansel

Lot 34S: Passing Through by Jim Hansel

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Passing Through by Jim Hansel - Edition Size: 480 - Giclee on Canvas - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 18 x 36 Release Date: 11-2009 ???.Jim Hansel is a very talented artist who has achieved success by overcoming special challenges to create his beautiful paintings. At a young age, Hansel demonstrated his artistic ability; throughout his life, he never swayed from his dream of becoming an artist. As long as the artist can recall, his love of wildlife and the outdoors have inspired his work so he may share his vision of nature?s wonders. The world Hansel paints is not always the world he sees. At the age of twelve, he was diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition, which has left him legally blind. Mastering his visual limitations, he has learned to create beautifully-detailed images with magnification and low-vision aids. Working only one or two inches away from the canvas, Hansel painstakingly paints in the details of a work, while forming in his mind a clear picture of the finished painting. Hansel also relies on his camera to capture his ideas and bring them into focus. He uses photographs to bring the landscapes and the wildlife models back to his studio. At this stage of starting a painting, he enlarges the photographs, if necessary, to see them more clearly. Amazingly, the artist then gazes through his glasses and commences his first brush strokes as his painting comes to life a few square inches at a time. Hansel?s visual challenges require him to spend more time on a painting adding his details than many artists?.sometimes working four months on a single canvas. Hansel wants his artwork to be judged on its own merit, not on the basis of an artist with a visual impairment. This determination and being blessed with a talent to create his outstanding images have brought him national recognition. Since his first print release in 1987, he has produced nearly 100 limited editions, and many have sold out. The artist?s attention to detail and distinctive, colorful landscapes are very popular with art collectors nationwide. Hansel credits his wife, Lois, his most ardent supporter, with much of the success of his art. Since their marriage, Lois has been involved in the production of the artist?s prints to ensure the highest possible quality. Their family also includes two children, Joe and Laura. Hansel has received national recognition and numerous awards for his wonderful art. He has been commissioned to create several paintings for Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. His limited edition prints are successful fundraisers for various conservation organizations. Hansel also has been honored with many other awards throughout his career. Jim Hansel?s art and his success are living testimony to the rewards of hard work and perseverance regardless of life?s challenges.

River of Grass by Matthew Hillier

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: River of Grass by Matthew Hillier - Edition Size: 495 - Print - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 29 x 21 Release Date: 10-2003 ???.Matthew Hillier?s extraordinary wildlife paintings offer the viewer a unique vantage point. His paintings express more than the physical characteristics of a species; they reveal the artist?s passion for his subjects. Although he now resides in the U. S., Hillier was born in Buckinghamshire, England, in 1958 and has spent most of his life on the south coast of England. Drawing and painting animals is something he has loved to do since he was a child. Hillier?s father was a museum designer who taught his son the rudiments of painting with watercolor, a medium Hillier used during his years as an illustrator, along with gouache. He is now best known for his acrylic paintings, although he loves the challenge of oils. Traveling widely in search of subjects to study and paint, Hillier has visited Africa many times, and he has traveled to India, other parts of Europe and throughout Southeast Asia. He loves the big cats and rhinos and finds himself drawn to water birds. Since moving to the United States, he has begun painting North American subjects in addition to the dramatic African and bird subjects for which he is renowned. Hillier studied at Dyfed College of Art in Carmarthen, West Wales, graduating with distinction. Three of his paintings were accepted by the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition before his 18th birthday, and he has exhibited regularly at the Pastel Society. He is a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists, the Society of Animal Artists, The Royal Institute and the Miniature Society, as well as the Paris Salon, the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Biarritz Salon. In addition, he has participated in the Christie?s Wildlife Auction. He has been selected to exhibit at the prodigious ?Birds in Art? exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson for many years. He has had one-man exhibitions throughout Great Britain and has illustrated many books and magazines. In 1995, he won the World Wildlife Fund Fine Art Award. In 1998, he received The People?s Choice Award from The Florida Wildlife and Western Art Expo. He was also a Featured Artist at that show in 1999. In 1997, 1998, and 2001, Hillier received The Society of Animal Artists? Award of Excellence. He received the People?s Choice Award at the Plainsmen Gallery/Raymond James Financial in 2002 and 2004. IN 2003, he won the ?Artists for the Next Century? Publishers Award at the Bennington Art Museum in Vermont. He has appeared on the cover of Wildlife Art Magazine in 2000 and 2003, In 2002, one of his paintings was chosen by US Art as one of their top 50 paintings of that year. For many years he was a regular contributor to the Guinness Book of Records illustrating the wildlife section. Hillier spent two years illustrating The Rhinoceros, a monograph published by Basilisk Press. This entailed traveling to Africa and Sumatra to study rhinos, after which he produced 20 large plates of portraits and paintings of five species of rhino, in addition to behavioral sketches. ?Rhinos are,? he says, ?wonderful subjects to paint.? Teaching is becoming an important part of Hillier?s life now. He has taught ?Life Painting? for several years at Montgomery College in Maryland and taught a Wildlife Art Workshop at the Beartooth School of Art in Montana. He lives in Maryland with his wife, (wildlife artist) Julia Rogers, two stepchildren and their young son, not to mention two ?ghastly? Chihuahuas and a fat cat.

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Artist: Sabzi . Title: New Beginning Canvas. Medium: HE GICLEE ON CANVAS. Image Size: 40 x 30. Paper Size: . Limited Edition Size: 195. __________Artist Biography: Born in Ahwaz, Iran, Sabzi started painting at the age of twelve and was encouraged in his early progression as an artist by his parents and inspiring teachers. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Jundi Shapur. "The best part of agriculture was the purity of its primal spaces," he says, explaining his early sensitivity to artistic concepts.Sabzi's early works were primarily realistic, exploring the historical and cultural themes of his homeland. His departure from Iran during the Khomeini regime brought him to Germany and then the United States. This exile provided him the opportunity to explore new artistic influences, and he began to work in abstract and figurative styles.MODERN GODDESSESSabzi's subjects are almost always women -- beautiful, graceful, taciturn and melancholy; they reflect love, mystery and solitude. His women are Madonnas, modern goddesses and martyred saints whose elongated forms suggest instability and internal conflict. According to Sabzi, their anonymous faces make them into religious icons that transcend and defy the demands of reality -- reflecting warmth, charm, happiness, and his undisputed love and admiration for women. His paintings resonate both Eastern and Western philosophies. His rich Persian heritage provides him with ancient images, sentimental Persian themes and memories of innocence. He draws from the Western influence of modernism found in the works of Klee, Cezanne, Matisse and Bonnard. A QUEST FOR SPIRITUALITYHis debt to modernism, especially to Matisse, is irrefutable. Earthy hues of pale greens, yellows, purples and reds illuminate the settings and inspire the forms with unique inner vibrations. Though schematic, the treatment of the human face as luminous geometric planes is a profound statement of the artist's quest for spirituality.Sabzi goes beyond Matisse and creates spatially-revolving, post-modern worlds. Images reflected in mirrors assume a life of their own. The effect is a powerful multiplicity of emotional representation. Here the fantastic is treated as ordinary and the rich fabrics of the paintings resonate intimacy. An accomplished abstract painter, Sabzi's passion for the spiritual is represented in the open spaces, symbolism and intricate patterns that make up the backgrounds of his compositions. Juxtaposing the complex feelings, body language and attitudes of his predominantly female figures against a backdrop of shapes and forms in space, Sabzi uses texture, lines and color to make artistic statements about love and beauty.

Description: Listening To The River - Steve Hanks - Hand Signed - Limited Edition Print - Image Size: 28"w X 18"h. Edition Size:350 - "I often paint women near the water," says artist Steve Hanks, "and each body of water has a different meaning, a different feeling." A painting of a woman in the ocean, for example, offers perspective and the sense that "your problems are no larger than a grain of sand." The subject of a lakeside portrait may be seeking solace and a sense of security. A river painting, however, is different. "A river is heading somewhere, it's got direction, "says Steve. "'Listening to the River' is about listening to the world you're in and waiting for its guidance. The woman is thinking about where she's headed." Steve Hanks' highly realistic watercolors reveal emotion through composition, color and lighting. His lyrical sensibility and unparalleled technical skill with watercolors have made him one of the most sought-after artists painting today.

Description: War Dance - Z.s. Liang - Hand Signed - Canvas Edition -image Size: 46"w X 31"h. Edition Size:25 - This is one of Z.S. Liang?s most dynamic visions of Native American life. The passion and might of these warriors is palatable as they twist and whirl around the yellow bonfire flames during this pre-raid ritual. ?The war dance of the Northeast Indian tribes was held before the raid,? relates Liang. ?Large fires were lit in the center of the village. The fiercely painted warriors gathered around the fire. The chief would give a speech to convince his people that the forthcoming strike was with the approval and guidance of the Great Spirit. The drum started in a slow pulse rated beat. The excitement heated up as the beat got faster, accompanied by rattling and singing. The war leader took his club and stamped the ground as if to shake the universe then began to dance and sing. Warriors started to rise and join the war dance. As each joined in, they became a volunteer for the raid. The war party was formed strictly by volunteers. War dances were usually held at night.? "War Dance" is one of the most impressive paintings Z.S. Liang has created. The energy and power of this fine work of art will transform any room in which it hangs.
