Condition Report: Older refinish, replaced brasses, a few smaller age cracks on the case sides, upper case has pieced repairs on the back edge of both sides. Poem and silhouette of young woman inscribed "Mary Sheldon 1820" mounted on back. Mary, born May 26, 1800, was the youngest of eight children born to Oliver Sheldon (1755-1820) and his wife, Michael Harmon (1756-1845). The Sheldons were natives of Suffield and like them, Mary spent her entire life there, dying in 1874. She married Alfred Owen (1799-1881), a farmer, and they had at least one child, Mary, born 1839.
