Description: An Arts and Crafts silver enamel and moonstone necklet, by Alfred Mondini Gentle, a pear-shaped enamel centrepiece depicting a sunset over water, with a surround of leaves and beads with a cabochon moonstone rub set to the top and bottom, swagged trace chain to moonstone and leaf stations, with moonstones and bead detail between two rows of chain to the back section, with a hook clasp Alfred Mondini Gentle (1873-1958) was an engineer in the family firm of Chas. Gentle & Co. based in St Albans. He taught art, science and fine metalwork at St. Albans Art School. The necklet is believed to have been made by him for his wife as a wedding present in 1901.
