Rare Hi-Shear/ Omega Arms Omega III Bolt Action Rifle with Box

Lot 407: Rare Hi-Shear/ Omega Arms Omega III Bolt Action Rifle with Box

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Estimate: $2250 - 3500 Best known for their production of detonators for the military and explosive bolts and rescue devices for the aerospace industry, Hi-Shear attempted to branch out into the arms industry by recruiting Homer Koon of Omega Arms to design a rifle for them. The resulting arm, the Omega III, was a beautiful arm with a curiously short lifespan; shortly after production was initiated, the firm shut down the line and sent agents to buy back the rifles that already left, destroying all that were returned as well as the unshipped stock. Research turns up much speculation but no confirmed reason for this buy back. Manufactured without sights. Octagon shaped receiver with jeweled and fluted bolt, internal rotary magazine, factory drilled and tapped on top of the receiver for mounting, marked "OMEGA III/BY HI-SHEAR CORP. TORRANCE-CAL." on the left side. Mounted with a very nicely figured smooth forearm with contrasting forend and pistol grip stock with a relief engraved grip cap, cheekpiece, vented Omega III recoil pad and sling swivel studs. Less than 100 rifles are believed to have made it out the door before the recall was initiated, with only 10 to 25 estimated to still be in circulation. A mysterious and beautiful rifle, whose mystery is only exceeded by its beauty, which would make a fine addition to any collection of American sporting arms. The rifle is complete with the original box numbered to the gun, extra forearm, Conetrol mounts and papers. BBL: 24 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 270 Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: HSC1020 Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains virtually all of the original blue finish and shows only the slightest handling/storage marks. The wood is excellent with some light scratches and a minor natural flaw on the upper left side of the forearm. The extra forearm is excellent. The box is very good.

Rare Pre-Ban French Semi-Automatic FAMAS Bullpup Rifle with a Full Complement of Accessories

Lot 447: Rare Pre-Ban French Semi-Automatic FAMAS Bullpup Rifle with a Full Complement of Accessories

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Estimate: $6500 - 9000 This is a very nice and extremely RARE Commercial copy of the French FAMAS semi-automatic Bullpup rifle. This rifle is the French equivalent of the American M4 Carbine and still is the standard Infantry service rifle in France today. These rifles were designed and manufactured in the French MAS arsenal at St. Etienne. The most unique thing obviously is that these rifles are of a Bullpup design. This concept was intended to provide a full size rifle barrel and action in a very short and compact rifle by shortening or eliminating the stock and moving the action to the rear. Thereby considerably reducing the overall length, this rifle is only 30 inches long overall. This concept did not receive support in most countries and only a handful today actually use the Bullpup rifle design, France, England and Austria among them. The right side of the receiver is marked "MAS223" over the serial number and the left side of the receiver is marked "MANUFACTURE NATIONALE D' ARMES, DE SAINT ETIENNE, MADE IN FRANCE, CENTURY ARMS, ST. ALBANS VT." The rear sight has single large battle sight with a large aperture with two different size flip up peep sights, one in front and one behind the large aperture. The front sight has a standard blade front that is also adjustable for windage and includes a unique push up quick point type night sight in front of the front sight post all housed inside the long carrying handle. The charging handle is located directly below the carrying handle. With a fold-down bipod mounted on the sides of the receiver and a factory bird cage flash-hider. The rifle is designed to be adaptable to either a left or right handed shooter by removing the ejection port cover and switching it to the other side of the rifle. It also has an ambidextrous safety to accommodate either style shooter. It is estimated that only 50-100 of these rifles were imported into the US before the Assault rifle ban stopped their importation. Consequently this is a VERY RARE rifle today. The FAMAS Bullpup is the pictured cover story in the October, 1988 Gun World magazine, page 18, entitled "The Fetching Famas" by Chuck Karwan. Complete with a original web sling, a Galati Intl. soft case, one extra magazine, two FAMAS magazine pouches, a cleaning kit and a FAMAS bayonet and scabbard. BBL: 20 inches round Stock: plastic Gauge: 223 Finish: black parkerized Grips: plastic Serial Number: SA00209B Condition: Excellent, The rifle retains 99 % plus of the black finish with just a few marks from handling. The plastic components are excellent with some light marks from handling. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is very fine showing some oxidation on the mounting fixtures. The case is very fine showing some soiling from handling and storage. The magazine pouches are near new as is the cleaning kit.

Lot 451: Rare Early TELKO Arms Portuguese AR10 Semi-Automatic Rifle

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: Estimate: $1800 - 2750 This is an excellent example of an early AR10/Armalite style semi-automatic part set that was produced on an early commercial XM10 semi-automatic receiver as produced by the TELKO N/C arms company in Miamisburg Ohio. These early commercial AR10 rifles were the forerunner of all the later full automatic and semi automatic military or Black Sporting type rifles produced and imported in the mid to late 1960s up through the late 1980s. Originally these commercial rifles were assembled or produced by using original AR10 part sets produced by the Dutch firm of "AI" on one of the current commercial lower receivers that were being produced during the early 1980s. There were two kit configurations available at this time, those produced for the Portuguese contract and the other for a Sudanese contracts, this rifle uses one of the Portuguese kits. The upper receiver is marked on the left side with a double British firing proof that consists of a "Crown/BNP" and "Crown/SP" proof next to "20T" with the lower edge marked "CAL.. 7,65mm, NATO-006536" with "XM10" marked on the lower right magazine well. This rifle has the original brown plastic stock, pistol grip and hand guards.
