Description: Andaman Islands. A group of three albumen prints and one silver print, c. 1890s, mounted on two facing leaves at the rear of a photograph album, the albumen prints showing one group of men, one group of women and one group of men and women, each approx. 15 x 20 cm, a silver print showing adults and children with a group of five Europeans standing behind them, approx. 10.5 x 14.5 cm, the preceding part of the album containing approx. 110 mounted albumen prints, mostly views in Greece, Corfu, Egypt, Turkey, Burma, etc., various sizes, generally faded, some photographs are removed from mounts, contemp. and later inscriptions to mounts, some spotting and soiling throughout, contemp. half morocco gilt, rubbed and soiled, folio, together with two unrelated 20th c. snapshot albums of Switzerland and South America The first album has a modern note indicating that these photographs were taken by or purchased by Harry Robinson, secretary to Rear Admiral Albert Hastings Markham in the Mediterranean.
