Description: Mid 19th century. The first, a recumbent, uplifted head turned to the left, appears to have been finished with a thin coat of black lacquer, now worn in a few places to reveal the natural wood beneath. 1 3/8in (3.6cm). The second, an ebony reclining figure with the head turned completely around to the left, the hair-work deeply etched and the horns polished. 1in (2.6cm).

Description: Mid 19th century. Two Monkeys atop a giant Mikan Orange, each holding a smaller orange in his hands, on one side of the large fruit is a jagged hole that reveals another monkey carved inside the hollowed out interior. The exterior of the large orange is naturally carved with an ishime pattern to resemble the skin of the fruit. Unsigned. 1 5/8in (4cm). Provenance: Ex Richards collection. Purchased from R.
