Description: Mid 19th century. The first, a copper working Soroban(Abacus), the inner frame is sentoku, and the counters are iron. 1 3/8in (3.4cm). The second, a bronze samurai helmet ash tray of the type made by Kyubei. 1 1/4in (3.1cm). The third, a shibuichi hako seal-ink box, with a very similar one-case miniature inro, with applied floral clusters and mon, gold and silver on the hako and gold on the inro. 1 1/4in (3.1cm). The fourth, a brass, bronze, and sentoku yatate, thebronze bowl with hinged top, the brush tube has two types of sentoku joined in an irregular pattern capped at the end by a large brass ball. 3 1/8in (7.9cm).

The first, a brass yatate in the shape of a Gourd, a naturalistically textured finish with applied tendrils in silver and a hinged leaf in brass that opens to provide access to the ink well, one end unscrews to reveal the removable fude. 3 5/8in (9.4cm). The second, a bronze Tsuru Sennin standing and stroking his beard. 2 5/8in (6.7cm). The third, a copper Ichiraku style manju of woven metal strands. 1 1/2in (3.7cm). Description: Mid 19th century. The first, a stag antler carved with a fist embedded in a torn Shoji screen, the back and sides are possibly of marine ivory. 2 5/8in (6.5cm). The second, in ivory, an Hobari with a reticulated case in the shape of a Chinese garden pot, carved with scenes of thatched huts in the mountains, the compass is set into the top under glass and surrounded by a wood border, the bottom is carved with a fourteen-petal kiku-mon. 1 3/8in (3.4cm).

Emerging from an Alms Bowl in which he sits wearing his large hat, the bowl sits on a lotus leaf and the large Dragon that he has evoked surrounds him with its tail sticking through the lotus leaf on the bottom, the eyes of both Chinnan and the Dragon are inlaid in black, there are traces of red and green paint. Description: Mid 19th century. The first, a Sennin, probably Chokwaro, standing and holding a gourd on his left shoulder by a rope, well-worn and with a good patina on the back. 3 3/8in (8.5cm). The second, a Bakemono Sennin, the wraith-like figure stands in a helix coil, a large mugwort leaf covers half of his body and his right hand is held to the side of his head, the inner matter of the antler has been completely removed which heightens the effect, of good color with a rich patina. 2 3/8in (6cm). Description: Early 19th century. The first, Chokwaro's Horse emerging from a Gourd, the horse being a branch of the antler, plugged at the open end, moderately worn with a nice patina. 4in (10.2cm). The second, design of a narrow one-case inro, on one side a Karako rolling a large wheel or snowball, on the other a scene of pine trees, the top and bottom with arabesque designs, at the bottom is painted an old collector's or museum number, '2520'. 2 3/8in (6.2cm).

Description: Mid 19th century. The first, a bamboo design shakuhachi (flute) with four sound holes. 3 1/8in (7.8cm). The second, an ash tray resembling a straw basket, lined with dark wood, cord attachment by a stag antler peg at the bottom. 1 1/8in (2.9cm). The third, ryusa manju of a water wheel, the eight spokes of the wheel bordered by flowing water, the reverse carved in a triangular band with a cog at its center. 1in (2.4cm). Description: The first, early 19th century, in bamboo, a seated baku with a corkscrew trunk, a curlicue tail, large ears, and clawed feet, on a base probably being the lowest cross-section of the plant. The platform base has been polished on the underside to show the grain and has a single himotoshi inlaid with ivory. 1 5/8in (4.3cm). The second, mid 19th century, in buffalo horn, a rabbit. The lighter core of the horn has been reserved for the underside where it runs only between the feet, thus leaving the rest undisturbed.

Diver in ebony mounted on a chunk of natural red coral, the well-carved figure holds his left hand to shield his eyes as he looks into the distance, his eyes are inlaid in bone with black pupils, his teeth are in mother-of pearl, his right hand holds a piece of seaweed, his loin cloth is inlaid with ivory etched with a batik diaper pattern and is, in turn, inlaid with a jade kinchaku and button manju connected by a silver cord.
