Architectura Privata, residential houses, armouries and art chambers, horticulture, water fountains and grottoes, Augsburg 1641, 78 pages, illustrated as well as 15 double-leaf-sized copper panels. In the original parchment binding. Joseph Furttenbach (1591 - 1667), born in Leutkirch in 1591, initially worked as a merchant and stayed in Italy from 1608 until circa 1618, where he was also in contact with Galileo Galilei. As he acquired a good knowledge in various subjects during that time, he was able to work as an architect, as a mathematician and as a chronicler in the following years. From 1621 on he lived in Ulm and led the building authority starting in 1631. This rare collected volume in an overall excellent condition also contains the epochal articles on craftsmanship of rifles as well as on artillery and on fireworks technology by Furttenbach. In the Architectura Privata he explains, among other things, the furnishing of private art chambers and armouries including inventory. Cf. Jähns 998 f., Graesse II, 647.
