Description: An American vesta case, embossed with an identical scene to both sides of the case of a golfer in full swing. Marked Sterling 925 and G within a diamond shaped shield. Height measuring 4.4 cm, weight 22 grams.

Condition Report: The vesta case displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. Dents and the body has become concave. The hinge has become loose and does not hold shut. Attached suspension ring. German hallmarks are distorted but legible.

Description: Late Victorian silver vesta case, of oval form and decorated with bright cut engraved leaves and floral sprigs, engraved personal initials to one side. Hallmarked Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1895. Measuring 4 cm by 2.5 cm, gross weight 13.8 grams.

Condition Report: The vesta case displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some deeper scratches are visible and some minor nicks and surface dints in the metal. Slight loss of detail to the decoration. Hinges in working order. The hallmarks are clear and legible.

Description: Victorian silver vesta case of slim rectangular form, later decorated to the front with an enamelled head of a Doberman, personal initials to the reverse. Hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co (William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman), London 1889. Measuring 3.8 cm by 2.4 cm, gross weight 14.8 grams.

Condition Report: The vesta case displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and light tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some deeper scratches visible and various minor nicks and pitting marks. Hinged cover is in good working order. Enamelled head is likely to be a later addition. Inscribed initials K. B to reverse. Maker's mark is very worn so that only a W is visible, some rubbing to other hallmarks but still legible. Part hallmarks to interior of lid include maker's mark, which is very clear.

Together with an early twentieth century silver cigarette case with foliate engraving and initial engraved cartouche, hallmarked Robert Pringle & Sons Birmingham 1918, height measuring 9 cm. Gross combined weight 3.7 ozt (116 grams). (2).

Condition Report: The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The cigarette case appears particularly dented and discoloured to the interior. Initial engravings to both items. The hallmarks are clear and legible.

Description: A selection of three vesta cases, to include a gilt brass ram's head vesta case, an owl vesta case and a shell vesta case. Lengths 2 to 1 3/4 inches (5.1 to 4.5cm).

Condition Report: The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The ram head has lost most of its gilt finish. The glass eyes are deficient. One of the early plastic (possibly vulcanite) horns is broken. General wear.

Description: A Victorian silver vesta case of oblong form with foliate engraving and personal initial engraving. Hallmarked Birmingham 1898, the maker's mark J.G, height measuring 4.3 cm. Together with an Edwardian silver propelling pencil, hallmarked Thomas Henry Vale Birmingham 1905. (2).

Description: Late Victorian silver vesta case, engraved to front and reverse with ivy leaf motifs, central vacant shield to front, hallmarked Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1896; together with three other silver vesta cases, all hallmarked Birmingham, dates for 1900, 1911 and 1920 (one a.f). Gross combined weight 2.87 ozt (89.3 grams). (4).

Condition Report: Vestas are in varied condition, however all display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some heavier tarnishing to some areas, also deeper scratches and nicks are visible. The Victorian vesta is generally okay, however it no longer shuts tightly. There is considerable damage to the other vestas, with various large surface dints. The hinged lid on the 1911 vesta has completely broken off. The hallmarks are mainly clear and legible.

Description: Edwardian silver vesta case of oblong form and floral engraving, the case front has a later applied circular panel with a painted image of a Spaniel. Hallmarked John Rose Birmingham 1909. Height measuring 4.7 cm, weight 24 grams.

Condition Report: The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Deeper scratch to the top right hand side. Hinge feels loose in closed position and does not sit flush. The bosy has become concave to the centre. Solder visible between the later applied panel and vesta body. The hallmarks are clear and legible.

Condition Report: The vesta case appears in good overall condition displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The striking plate to the underside has a yellowed colour. The release mechanism, hinge and clasp are in good working order. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible, date letter of a larger punch size, no maker's mark visible. The interior heavily tarnished.

Condition Report: The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavy wear to the silver around the cushion with dents and a split. Further small dints around the body. The material to the cushion is likely to be a replacement. Felt to the base is also a replacement, this and the filling to the base has started to recess from the silver. The bow feels a little loose. Hallmarks rubbed, date letter illegible.
