Footnote: Long case clocks signed by Thomas Bridge Londini Fecit, were in fact made in Bolton Lancashire by the son of the Wigan clockmaker Thomas Bridge. Thomas Bridge Junior worked in London until about 1700, producing high quality eight day clocks. He continued to sign his clocks Londini, but it is clear from certain features that they were made in the Northwest. He eventually moved to Bolton and worked there until his death in 1717. David Weatherfield amassed a distinguished collection of English clocks including designs of bracket clocks, long case clocks and lantern clocks. He was a coal merchant and his passion for collecting spanned three decades. His collection was sold privately in 1928 to Francis Mallet. Property of a Prominent Collector, Scarsdale.
