Description: Cricket: * Braund (Leonard Charles, 1875-1955). A presentation leather cricket ball with (unmarked) silver band engraved 'Presented to Len. C. Braund Somerset v. Yorks. June 1902. Scored 65 out of 192 captured 15 wickets for 71 runs', together with a copy of Who's Who of Cricketers, in which can be found details of Braund's career (see p. 134) Braund played for Somerset in 1901 and took the critics by surprise, completing the 'double' and being rewarded by selection for the England team toAustralia in 1901-2. His success continued through 1902, he again completed the 'double' and represented England in all five Tests. A third and last 'double' was completed in 1903, and though he went with MCC on two further visits to Australia and appeared for Somerset until 1920, his career showed a gradual decline from those three great summers of 1901, 1902 and 1903.
