Description: A late 17th century hand written apothecary book, with preparation and recipe notes and account details, in two differing hands; with a smaller apothecary book (2)

Condition Report: Please note that no more than 10% of the larger book has been used, 90% remains blank. Less of the smaller book has been written in, 98% still blank pages, larger 12 x 8 x 3 inches smaller 7.5 x 6.5 x 1 inches The larger apothecary book - frontboard is detached, leather is heavily worn and scuffed throughout, with some worm, the pages are worn along edges with some spotting and general browning throughout, there are traces of an old label to the front page, about half of the book is scored across the top and down the middle in ink and titled on most pages with different ailments or cures, of those 73 pages have ink writing varying from just a few lines to most of the page covered, after the divided pages there are 9 pages with further notes which are reverse written (i.e. book turned 180 degrees), the back 20 pages have again been scored and divided in ink in two columns and four of which have a small amount of notes on them. Most pages have a watermark of a vase to the left hand side. Smaller book is in better condition just generally grubby and with boards warped, there are less notes in here probably only 6 or 7 pages only have notes, probably only 2% of the overall book, there are very nominal notes in here. Condition Report: Manda has the dust jacket which is not price clipped but has a biro line through the price, some tears and rubbing to top and bottom of spine on the dust jacket, cloth good, internally ok. Puss in Boots - the last double page is lacking the entire upper section of the grey to the border and there is a 1inch tear to the bottom right corner, general wear at edges of others, and the staples have rusted, some light blemishes and general rubbing to the edges of the boards. Orlando and the The Three Graces - fairly nice and clean throughout apart from one small spot at the bottom of the front board, internally slight browning at edges with one light blemish to top corner of page 29, otherwise good. The Frisky Housewife - top and bottom of spine knocked with some rubbing at bottom of spine, a little grubby, internally clean. Orlando by the farm - there are three small chips to the bottom right corner of the front board, small one to the spine and general knocks to the top and bottom of the spine but nothing overly serious, slight marks to the back endpapers but otherwise clean and bright internally. Orlando keeps a dog - light rubbing throughout the edges, externally a little grubby to the backboards but essentially clean and bright, front gutters open, pages with some slight finger marks to edges but essentially ok. Condition Report: Gorbals - lightly browned at edges, heavier to the bottom left corner which has slight undulated feel, small crease to bottom right corner and light rubbing at edges, back is lightly grubby but with clear green and black stamp. The larger silver print of the two boys is in better condition but with slight creasing at right hand short side, slight wear at this edge but the scratch is visible to the right of the image part of the printing, a very light blemish to the surface just by the left hand foot of the boy in the middle of the picture. Fairly clean verso, stamped Bert Hardy signature and circular blue stamp. The image of gentleman looking out of window which has been mounted onto board has a 2 inch crease to the bottom left corner, some mould blooming to the top right corner about 1.5 inches and general light wear around ages, verso has green Bert Hardy stamp and A.S. Knight ltd and Chansitor House stamps cancelled out and numbered 3 in a corner, the mould blooming on the back is worse that the front. Final image of young boy having his face washed has some small blooming patches of mould to bottom left corner, creasing and surface flaking to top right corner and other light wear around edges, mould marks are heavier on the back with some silver fish damage down the left hand side of the back with no.27 in the corner, green Bert Hardy stamp and two other cancelled out stamps as on the previous image. Description: Two 19th century European carved and painted dogs head walking canes, with glass eyes, with a horses head walking cane and a late 18th century carved boxwood cane, the handle modelled as the face of a Georgian gentleman and a fox, 37ins largest

Condition Report: Bulldog walking cane - 35.5 inches long, old 1 inch crack to the top of the head and a much smaller one between the two eyes and another about 0.75 inch running down one side of the cheek. General rubbing throughout and slight grazing to the non cracked cheek, shaft generally worn with some cracks and lifting to the back surface of the cane. The boxwood cane with dog and gentleman's head - old chip to one ear of the dog and an old crack to one side of the cheek and the lower part of the hair, each of these about 1cm in length, light scratches, loss to the curl of the hair on one side of the Georgian man's face and nose somewhat rubbed. Even patina throughout, malacca shaft generally scratched and worn particularly to the bottom end, length 37 inches. Other dogs head waking cane is 37 inches long, grazes to both ears and eyebrows and general rubbing to the surface throughout, malacca handle with surface chipping and general wear to the cane shaft. Silver collar is tired. Horses head cane is 32 inches long, the silver collar is in very poor condition. Description: A Royal Artillery officers sword, with 33.5 inch acid etched blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, no.55791 with wire band shagreen fishskin grip and leather scabbard and a similar officers sword with undecorated blade, 41in & 43in.

Condition Report: Artillery Officer's sword - the blade is lightly tarnished throughout and would benefit from a clean, somewhat a little grubby but the detailing is all clearly visible. The grip is grubby with some light flaking but all the wirework and general surface covering is there, the guard, hilt, grip and pommel heavily tarnished with rusting patches. Scabbard generally scuffed and marked, leather belt clasp is broken and nipple mount is tarnished. The other sword - the blade is fairly clean and probably has been cleaned just somewhat grubby to the surface, there is traces of a crown stamp although half of it is rubbed. One crack and two small chips to the fishskin grip otherwise good, the guard, grip and pommel tarnished throughout with some rusting. Scabbard is heavily tarnished and rusted and rather dirty.
