GIOVANNI BATTISTA TIEPOLO | Recto: a sheet of several studies: a foot, a head of a youth in profile, and two bottles
verso: study of a right arm with a closed hand

Estimate: $15,000 - $18,000

Description: Black chalk (recto and verso) heightened with white chalk (recto) on buff paper;bears old attribution, top left margin, in pen and brown ink: Piazzetta and numbering: 24

Condition Report: Hinged to the mount at the upper margin. Chalk remains fresh and strong. There are several small tears located around the margins of the sheet, the larger ones are located at the lower left margin. There are also several areas where red chalk has come into contact with the paper, visible at the right hand margin and also at the upper left margin by the foot (there is some red on the verso too). There also appears to be a small water stain at the left margin. The sheet has a few faint creases at the lower section of the sheet. The chalk however is still strong and the main condition issues appear at the edges of the paper. Sold in a giltwood frame. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
