Harlamoff' On the reverse with remains of an old exhibition label, numbered by unknown hand and illegibly stamped The authenticity of the work has been confirmed by Olga Sugrobova-Roth und Eckart Lingenauber and has been included to the addendum of the-catalogue raisonné of the artist under the number A-26-P Dimensions: 44 x 27 cm Gilt stucco frame: 56 x 42 cm Very good condition Idyllic village landscape with farmhouse and chicken captured with quick, loose brushstrokes, a subject that is rather rarely found in the artist's oeuvre Alexei Alexeievich Harlamoff was known for his realistic depictions of children and women, mostly Italians or gypsies, combined with a genre staffage or scenic background. His landscapes are characterized, however, by the Plein air painting of the Impressionists. Condition: Overall very good condition, selective retouching centrally in the region of the trees, otherwise overall very good impression. The image dimensions are 44 x 27 cm, the frame dimensions 56 x 42 cm. Alexei Alexeievich Harlamoff (1840-1922/25) Harlamoff began his artistic training with Vladimir Jakovlevič Afanas'ev and later attended the Academy of St. Petersburg as a guest student, switching to a full-time student under Alexey Markov Tarašovič from 1862-86. In 1879 he received a scholarship from the Academy in Paris, where he eventually settled down to the end of his life, working with the artist Léon Bonnat for some time. In 1870 he traveled to Berlin, Brussels and London. Four years later he was awarded the academic title of the St. Petersburg Academy and became a member of the Society of Russian Artists. Harlamoff's works are nowadays to be found in the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Russian Art and the Russian Museum, St. Petersburg amongst others. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
