Globe itself is rather browned with some chipping and losses, larger pieces to part of Canada and North Europe where the surface has come away. A little bit of peeling here and there and general scuffs but essentially fair. Stand gilt spelter. Condition Report: Globe with very nominal wear, essentially good, only some of the small country names are slightly harder to read, the zodiac surround to the box with light wear throughout the circumference, rather grubby at December and Capricorn, a little lifted with a couple of small little nicks but essentially fair. Box generally scuffed and grubby through age, paper label to lid grubby and clearly visible, banding around edge with losses. All fairly superficial and generally ok. Description: An early 20th century Philips 6 inch terrestrial globe, with gilt brass meridian, on ebonised stand, height 11.5ins

Condition Report: Wear to the black paint on the stand and general tarnishing to the meridian, globe itself lightly grubby throughout, there is a crack running from Alaska down through the Pacific just to the east of Honolulu, this effects only a few words, lesser little split just to the surface of the paper coming from Eastern Europe down through Turkey and just the top of Cairo but not as severe as the other, some other little scuffs here and there to the paper surface and some very slight cracks to the paper but not to the globe itself in part of the South Pacific but not serious. general wear around both Poles but generally fair, once cleaned colour will be much brighter. Description: A late 19th century Philips 14 inch terrestrial globe, on turned wood stand, 20in.

Condition Report: Globe has a fine craquelure of brown lines throughout but all text and countries appear to be ok, a couple of light scuffs to the surface, largest is in the middle of the Indian Ocean and about 1cm in length and does not affect any text, the other is just above New Guinea and is probably about 1inch in length and does effect some text of the Caroline Isles and there is a much smaller one just to the left handside of Honduras. Base appears to have been broken and glued back, despite faults overall appearance ok. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. Condition Report: Meridian heavily tarnished and engraved bronze cap to top of globe badly dented with two fractures; globe surface heavily worn here. Many scratches and scuffs to surface, particularly to equator. Some varnish losses to underside with some paper loss. Two small holes to Southern hemisphere, largest about 1inch. Condition Report: A large dent with complete loss to paper and plaster surface over Mongolia (3 x 2ins approximately). A smaller but just as severe dent in Canada (2 x 2ins approximately). Many cracks to globe throughout, very heavy cracks to the Arctic, some sections here loose. Cracks also (but lesser) to Antartica.
