by ArtVipCharity.com

April 29, 2014, 10:00 AM PST

Estimated Price: $4,000 - $5,000

Description: Jenik Abstract No. 22 Limited edition embellished giclee on archival canvas. Hand signed and numbered by the artist. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. Approx. 24x36

Condition Report: This is new in mint condition. Jenik. Limited edition embellished giclee on archival canvas. Hand signed and numbered by the artist. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. Approx. 24x36 Jeniks achievement in her body of art work is to have arrived at a point in her mastery to create works that are not only pictorially engaging on formal levels but to create, also, philosophically teasing and profound images. Jenik is a painter in the tradition of such visual theorists as Gorky, Kandinsky and Motherwell. Absorbing and processing a vast range of material, from ancient languages to modern painting movements, her works convey a sense of confidence over this broad spectrum of experience. This tenet of Modernism has become fundamental to Jenik's work. Her often biomorphic shapes and lines, coupled with her bold use of color, infuse her paintings with richly exotic symbolism in the style or Miro or Leger. Adding depth to her artistic persona, Jenik is an accomplished ceramist who knew the noted artist Beatrice Wood.

Charles Russell Limited Edition The Tenderfoot

Lot 652: Charles Russell Limited Edition The Tenderfoot

Estimated Price: $1,200 - $1,400

Description: Charles Russell Limited Edition The Tenderfoot. Limited Edition Giclee on archival canvas. The signature is in the plate. Edition size is 300. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. Approx 26 x 34 inches. Custom framed.

Condition Report: This is a fine reproduction and in mint condition. The Tenderfoot - Charles Russell. Limited Edition Giclee on archival canvas. The signature is in the plate. Edition size is 300. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. Custom framed.Charles Marion Russell was born 1864, in the little town of Oak Hill, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. His family owned the Oak Hill Firebrick and Tile Works and were prosperous. We know quite a bit about Charlies early years as much of his life story has become legend. Charlie was not particularly fond of school and in later years, playfully denied ever setting foot in a school. He would then correct himself by saying he had gone one day when his brother was sick, and he had taken his place. As a child Charlie was much more interested in the activities down on the waterfront of his Missouri home. He was fascinated with the West and he would spend day after day watching the explorers, soldiers, fur traders and entrepreneurs arriving from and destined for the upper reaches of the Missouri. He read everything he could on the West and was determined to be a cowboy just as soon as he could leave home. Gradually his reputation grew. The Prince of Wales, while visiting Calgary, Canada, purchased a Russell, which now hangs in Buckingham Palace. The painting sold for $10,000. At the time, it was the highest price ever paid for the work of a living American artist. With his career in full bloom, Russell had showings throughout the country. In 1925 he was honored with a special exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Russell also cast in bronze and can be seen in museums throughout the world. He was also a fine writer and humorist. His books include Rawhide Rawlins Stories and Trails Plowed Under. He is also remembered for his delightful personal letters to his friends. Many were collected by his wife and published under the title Good Medicine. Many people are struck with the imagination and animation in Russells paintings. They often tell a story and leave you with the question, What will happen next. Excellent condition.

Louis Icart Limited Edition Lavender Lady

by ArtVipCharity.com

April 29, 2014, 10:00 AM PST

Estimated Price: $1,200 - $1,500

Description: Louis Icart Limited Edition Giclee Lavender Lady Limited Edition Giclee on canvas. The signature is in the plate. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. 24 x 30. Custom framed.

Condition Report: This item is new, in mint condition. Louis Icart Limited Edition Lavender Lady by Louis Icart-Limited Edition Giclee on paper. The signature is in the plate. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. 24 x 30 Louis Icart was born in Toulouse, France. He began drawing at an early age. He was particularly interested in fashion, and became famous for his sketches almost immediately. He worked for major design studios at a time when fashion was undergoing a radical change-from the fussiness of the late nineteenth century to the simple, clingy lines of the early twentieth century. He was first son of Jean and Elisabeth Icart and was officially named Louis Justin Laurent Icart. The use of his initials L.I. would be sufficient in this household.Icart fought in World War I. Icart relied on art to stem his anguish, sketching on every available surface. Icart was a successful banker to please the family. It was not until his move to Paris in 1907 that Icart would concentrate on painting, drawing and the production of countless beautiful etchings, which have served (more than the other mediums) to indelibly preserve his name in twentieth century art history. When he returned from the front he made prints from those drawings. The prints, most of which were aquatints and drypoints, showed great skill. Because they were much in demand, Icart frequently made two editions (one European, the other American) to satisfy his public. These prints are considered rare today, and when they are in mint condition they fetch high prices at auction.By the late 1920s Icart, working for both publications and major fashion and design studios, had become very successful, both artistically and financially. His etchings reached their height of brilliance in this era of Art Deco, and Icart had become the symbol of the epoch. Yet, although Icart has created for us a picture of Paris and New York life in the 1920s and 1930s, he worked in his own style, derived principally from the study of eighteenth-century French masters.

SHLOMO ALTER - ARTISTS STUDIO

Lot 746C: SHLOMO ALTER - ARTISTS STUDIO

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $180 - $270

Description: Artist: SHLOMO ALTER. Title: Artists Studio. Medium: SERIGRAPH ON PAPER. Image Size: 11x8.5. Paper Size: 11.5x9. Limited Edition Size: 490. __________Artist Biography: Shlomo Alter?s work is influenced by his early recollections of the elegantly dressed people gathered in the courtyard of his parents? restaurant in Bucharest, Rumania eating drinking and dancing to the music of the Gypsy bands, and enjoying the convivial atmosphere. With an air of hope and optimism, Alter?s art reflects the joys of life, an antithesis to the Nazi regime that shattered his childhood happiness. His paintings are like a stage set, at once motionless and waiting to burst into action. The artist's unique vision and personality come through in each of his works. He draws on a wide array of colors to tell his stories, employing vivid and exuberant pigments as his vocabulary. Alter utilizes an incredible range of artistic techniques; he works in mixed media, including ink drawing, gouache, watercolor, oil, silkscreen, painted sculpture, and most recently - computer graphics. Alter was born in Romania to a family of restaurateurs, and immigrated to Israel in 1948. His artistic gifts became apparent at an early age; during high school, he began studying painting under the well-known artist Aaron Avni. Several of Alter?s early works appeared in UNICEF?S ?World-Touring Exhibition of Young Artists?. Upon leaving the military as a lieutenant in 1959, he married and embarked upon a successful career in the computers industry. He continued painting all the while, while being mentored by world-famous Marcel Janco. Finally, he quit his job and dedicated himself entirely to art. Alter has held many one man and group exhibitions throughout the world. His works are included in many notable private and corporate collections.

Estimated Price: $2,500 - $3,500

Description: Poppyfield II Monet. Limited edition Hand embellished giclee on canvas. The signature is in the plate. Approx size is 26x28 inches. Includes certificate of authenticity. Custom framed.

Condition Report: This is new in mint condition. Claude Monet The Museum at the Habre. Limited Edition giclee on canvas. The signature is in the plate. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. Approx. 24x30 inches. Claude Oscar Monet was a French impressionist painter who brought the study of the transient effects of natural light to its most refined expression. Monet was born on 1840, in Paris, but he spent most of his childhood in Le Havre. There, in his teens, he studied drawing; he also painted seascapes outside with the French painter Eugene Louis Boudin. By 1859 Monet had committed himself to a career as an artist and began to spend as much time in Paris as possible. During the 1860s he was associated with the preimpressionist painter Edouard Manet, and with other aspiring French painters destined to form the impressionist school Camille Pissarro, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley. Working outside, Monet painted simple landscapes and scenes of contemporary middle-class society, and he began to have some success at official exhibitions. As his style developed, however, Monet violated one traditional artistic convention after another in the interest of direct artistic expression. His experiments in rendering outdoor sunlight with a direct, sketchlike application of bright color became more and more daring.
