Unmarked Vintage Wwii Wooden Airplane Propeller

by Amoskeag Auction Co

June 6, 2015, 9:00 AM EST

Manchester, NH, USA

Estimated Price: $500 - $700

Description: This is a cool vintage wooden propeller with no maker's marking and an overall length of 7 1/2'. The propeller has an overall coating of antique varnish with both tips coated in aged green enamel; a section of one the tips shows later-applied lighter green enamel. Just right of the face of the prop is a series of markings as follows: "E.N.G. R755X9 / H.P. 225 R.P.M. 2000 / A.T. 17 / D.W.G. NO43K13605 / SER NO AC4314651", the 43K signifying a 1943 military contract. Some of the characters are merely impressed in the wood with no black enamel remaining and are only visible under bright light. The metal sheathing on each end of the propeller is coated with faded matte gray-green enamel. The prop is about 6" thick, its center section is about 9" in diameter, it is retained with eight bolts, each about 7" on center from its opposing bolt, each of the bolts being about 3" from one another. The bore in the center of the prop is 4" in diameter. These props were for a Cessna models AT-17 Bobcat, T-50 UC-78 Aircraft and Naval JRC-1 Aircraft. Really an interesting vintage wooden propeller that would look great as the centerpiece of any display of interesting aeronautical collectables. [Extra shipping will apply] (156934-29) [Nicholas Falcone Collection]
