A French carved and veneered occasional table comprising walnut and walnut veneer, the top with cyma curved edges and astragal form corners comprising of four panels of figured walnut veneer, the lines of the grain of each panel forming a diamond pattern, all framed by figured walnut veneer crossbanding over astragal molding, surmounting the cyma curved skirt with carved and etched decoration comprising a central acanthus motif within a cyma curved cartouche flanked by curved acanthus leaves over an etched diaper pattern ground with relief carved floral medallions and foliate c-scroll acanthus leaves, the sides with conforming etched and carved decoration, the convex corners with high relief floral carving, all raised on four cabriole legs, the knees with high relief carved bellflowers flanked by molded scrolls terminating in scrolled feet surmounted by acanthus leaf carving, all joined by a floral carved x form stretcher with central floral medallion. Approximate height 30.25", width 32.5", depth 22.5".

Description: Chinese, 19th century. A famille rose decorated baluster form vase converted to a table lamp with hand painted decoration to one side depicting a still life with vases holding flowering plants, to opposite side with an elaborate figural scene with many men and boys within an interior and circled around an important figure who is framed in front of a landscape, the neck above this scene with four courtly figures holding and observing a scroll and surrounded by clusters of prunus fruit and precious objects, the remaining two sides of the base with many rows of black calligraphic marks, and with two gig facing fu dogs as handles to each side of neck. The lamp to a carved and stained wood stand with five ogee form feet, also with wood cap to vase below brass harp and cinnabar toned wooden figural finial. Overall approximately 33.75", 8.5" diameter of vase. Provenance: From the Estate of Sam & Florence Inman, Atlanta, Georgia.

French Empire Style Ormolu & Walnut Server Buffet

Description: French, late 19th/early 20th century. French Empire style ormolu mounted burl walnut server or buffet with rectangular white and gray marble top over a frieze mounted with ormolu stars centering a pair of drawers above a pair of doors, one mounted with mythological figure of Apollo, the other with Diana, flanked and centered by pilasters with ormolu mounts and raised on front heavy bun feet. Approximate height 39.25", width 58.15", depth 21".

Condition Report: A few scattered long scratches on marble top commensurate with age and use (likely from placing object with sharp corners and dragging along top). Very slight oxidation to the ormolu mounts. Interior of hinged doors with scattered small veneer losses at top edge (one on left side, more on right side). Both hinged doors exhibit later masking tape at the lower interior edge, perhaps as reinforcement. Later wood reinforcements on side rails below drawered storage. Lower storage space exhibits gap between the lower board and the front interior cross rail. Back of buffet with some black marks and areas near the top right and left corner has old remnants of adhesive, perhaps from a former label. The feet exhibit scuffing commensurate with age and use. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.

A collection of two fine figural painting depicting 17th century figures in interiors, one depicting two women in a wine cellar being serenaded by a blonde man playing a lute, the man seated on a wooden stool at right and extending his left arm toward the two women coyly resting against an olive jar at left, empty wine bottles scattered at their feet with a stone wall to left background and a small arched window to right in a darkened back room; the other depicting two men and a woman in a wine cellar, one man playing a lute while the other rests on bench behind him, the pair focused on a woman in red skirt coyly looking down at a bottle of wine held in her hand to her knee, the group flanked to left by large wine barrels, and with empty bottles to floor with an arched staircase doorway to center background. Each with two Christie's labels to verso, and one with a period paper label hand inscribed "Kellerszene", likely a collection label. Each framed approximately 13.625" x 16.875". Each unframed approximately 12.25" x 15.625". A gold plated .950 sterling silver lidded compote on stand of Kylix form with Neoclassical motif circa 1805, the compote with laurel leaf bands to round foot and neck and scrolling arms to opposing sides, each adorned at apex with ancient Greek or Roman style male figural bust and having bell flower garland to outer surface, the stand on four clawed feet with child harpy busts above open wings and with concave well to center. Marked to underside and inner rim of stand with maker's mark and Paris 950/1000 standard hallmark dating 1798-1809, top of stand with Paris 950/1000 standard hallmark and Paris Guaranty mark, bottom of compote with maker's mark and indistinguishable second mark, exterior of compote with Guaranty Paris mark near base and Paris 950/1000 standard hallmark near rim, lid two indistinguishable marks beside Paris Guaranty mark. Overall approximately 7.125" tall, 8.375" diameter across feet. Total approximate weight 46 troy ounces. Provenance: From the Estate of Sam & Florence Inman, Atlanta, Georgia.

Figural landscape painting depicting men unloading the days catch onto the dock near windmill at dusk, at left of composition man rides horse away from center on a dirt path, at center foreground stands a tall wooden windmill with shingled roof, at its base a woman approaching group of men at right on the dock working near boats, at right a glimpse of river with ships in distance. Christie's label to verso of frame. Framed approximately 42.2" x 51". Unframed approximately 26.25" x 33.5". Provenance: Acquired at Christie's Amsterdam, sale #2849 "Old Masters and 19th Century Art", November 9, 2010, Lot 102.

Condition Report: Examined under black light. Painting has been relined, likely in 19th century. Oxidation to canvas and stretcher commensurate with age. Craquelure to paint surface commensurate with age. Inpainting evident to top of left edge, and center and right of top edge in repair of frame rubbing. Two older patches to backside of canvas with coordinating in painting to front surface - left side of windmill roof, and in sky to left of lower windmill blade. 1.5" long v shaped field of in painting to top right corner, likely in repair of a tear but obscured to back of canvas by tightening wedge and stretcher. 0.75" round field of in painting in sky above sailboat at right. Other scattered and minor areas of inpainting. Repairs and restorations are neither obvious nor distracting. Left edge of work with approximately 3mm wide line of gilt paint overlaying paint surface, a result of retouching the gilt frame - this could be easily corrected by a professional restorer. Paint layer is stable. No other apparent signs of rips, tears, abrasions, lifting, losses, or punctures.
