Description: Porcelain, polychrome painting and gilding China, Qing Dynasty, 19th to early 20th century Baluster shape and domed lid Cone-shaped finial with gilding Famille rose décor on white ground Six cartouches with scenes of female figures The base with six character Qianlong mark (1736-1795) Height with lid: 48 cm Very good condition Famille Rose The term Famille Rose describes a specific sort of Chinese porcelain from the 17th and 18th centuries. The name comes from the dominant pink and carmine color painting that is applied over the glaze. This type of porcelain is in China known as Yangcai 洋彩 'foreign color'. The painting of the Famille Rose used opaque enamel colors in contrast to the transparent colors of the Famille Verte. Condition: The vase holds features a six character Qianlong mark on the base. The vase is in very good condition with minimal traces of use, such as a small crack at the lip rim and slight gold abrasion on the knob. The height is 48 cm including the lid. The splendid cabinet is carved from wood and opulently lacquered in gold. It is adorned all around with multicolored crystals and glass. The lower part with two glazed doors is raised on a platform. On top rests the central part with a drawer below the tabernacle in which a Buddha figure can be displayed. The cabinet is crowned by a stepped top in the form of a stupa. The upright, oblong and tripartite body of oak is set upon a contoured, protruding socket frame with narrow bracket feet. The lower part consists of a coffered door with a carved lion's head in its center. This is flanked by fluted panels. A wide drawer with a brass knob is positioned in the middle part of the cabinet, which again is flanked by two carved lion's heads. Above that is situated another hinged and coffered door, its center panel again bearing the carved lion's head. The door is flanked by two further figural carvings in the shape of Herma.Condition:The cabinet shows signs of age and wear. The body displays blemishes in places and partially stains are visible as well as worm infestations (inactive). The left side panel is slightly warped and the cover has a horizontal age-related crack. The overall dimensions are 142 x 82 x 63 cm.
