Description: FRENCH MILITARY COMMEMORATIVE CHEROOT CASE - 19th c Fruitwood Case with hinged lid transfer captioned "Revolte du Caire" (the revolt in Egypt during the Napoleonic occupation,) from the 1827 engraving by Couche fils. The bowed sides and flat underside are pen decorated with abstract tobacco leaves and blossoms. The lid fits tightly, the interior has remnants of lead foil. 5" x 3" x 7/8". Very good condition.

Blindstamped red cloth binding with gilt title and decoration, portrait frontis and fold-out map in vol I, map frontis in vol II, simple line engravings throughout. 7" x 10 1/4", 264 & 265 pages. Both binding spines split into two pieces, soiled, foxing to first and last pages, otherwise contents are bright and clean, with minor edge soiling. A nice rebinding project.
