Estimated Price: €120 - €140

Description: One bottle of Pommard Premier Cru Clos des Épenots, 1994 vintage; Produced by Domaine du Château de Meursault One bottle of Le Bas de Saucilles, 1995 vintage; Produced by Domaine Charles Allexant et Fils Pommard, Burgundy/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: The Côte d'Or is the soul of Burgundy wine-growing culture. This rural stretch of land has produced some of the finest wines on the planet for a good two centuries. Vines thrive on the "golden hillside" between the Morvan hills and the Saône plain. The 28 districts of the Côte d'Or are geographically divided into two regions. The northern part is Côte de Nuits, named after the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, and produces great red wines from Pinot noir. Côte de Beaune is the southern half, where valuable Chardonnay white wines on a par with Pinot noir are produced. The appellation on the Côte de Beaune stretches from the town of Beaune to the village of Volnay. It stands for powerful red wines made from Pinot noir. Its chalky, heavy loam floor gives the Pinot noir mineral notes, power and structure. The fill levels are excellent (< 2 cm). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

4 Bottles 1998 Jean Raphet Clos de Vougeot, Burgundy

Lot 26: 4 Bottles 1998 Jean Raphet Clos de Vougeot, Burgundy

by Auctionata

August 13, 2014, 6:00 PM CET

Berlin, Germany

Estimated Price: €310 - €380

Description: Vier Flaschen Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Produced by Jean Raphet 1988 vintage Clos de Vougeot, Burgundy/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: 1x This lot comprises four bottles of 1988 vintage Pinot Noir from the Clos de Vougeot appellation produced by Jean Raphet.Clos de Vougeot is the heart of Burgundy, not only in terms of wine, but also in terms of cultural heritage: set up by the Cistercian monks of Cîteaux in the twelfth century, Clos de Vougeout is today cultivated by more than eighty vintners that take care of their small parcels of land with great pride. The vineyard spans more than fifty hectares and exhibits diverse soil properties: the upper region is more strongly characterized by fossilized chalk, whilst the lower part coonsists of deep clay. The Pinot noir has Grand Cru status, whilst the Chardonnay white wine is classified as Premier Cru.1988 was a very good vintage in Burgundy, but the wines needed many years to fully develop. The bet of these wines are concentrated and fruity. The fill levels are excellent (< 2 cm). The labels and capsule are in perfect condition. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

1 Bottle 1972 Louis Latour Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

Lot 28: 1 Bottle 1972 Louis Latour Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

by Auctionata

August 13, 2014, 6:00 PM CET

Berlin, Germany

Estimated Price: €120 - €150

Description: One bottle of Nuits St. Georges Produced by Louis Latour 1972 vintage Nuits St. George, Burgundy/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: This lot comprises one bottle of 1972 vintage Pinot Noir produced by Louis Latour in the Nuits St. Georges appellation of Burgundy.Nuits-Saint-Georges is part of the superior wine-growing region of Côte de Nuits. The appellation spans approximately 165 hectares of village vineyards, in which exclusively Pinot noir is cultivated. On top of that are 150 hectares of Premiere Cru vineyards. The best growths of the area unite robust power with complexity, aroma and finesse. The fill level is excellent (< 3 cm). The label and capsule are in perfect condition.Louis Latour Founded in 1797, the Maison Louis Latour is amongst the oldest and most renowned negociant-eleveurs in Burgundy. It remains in family ownership as a single business entity. The family does not only trade in Burgundian wine, but also in wines hailing from the Ardeche and the Coteaux de Verdon, located 70km to the north of Saint Tropez. Furthermore, the family, which has been producing wine since the 17th century, also owns 50 hectares of vineyard land, of which nearly 29 hectares are located in Grand Cru regions. The wines are produced in the Chateau Corton Grancey in Aloxe Corton and have been marketed under the name Domaine Louis Latour since 1985.It is easy to lose track with such a large selection of wines on offer, which range from simple Beaujolais to diverse Chablis, Macon, Meursaults bie to Premier and Grand Crus hailing from all corners of the Cote d Ore. Parts of the Grand Crus Batard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet, Chambertin, Le Clos (probably the best Chablis vineyard), Charmes-Chambertin, Chevalier-Montrachet, Clos de la Roche, Clos Vougeot, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Criots-Batard-Montrachet, Grands Echezeaux, Laricieres-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin and Montrachet are also owned by the family. The vinification of these fine wines is carried out using traditional methods with open barrels and subsequent barrel aging for red wines, while the white wines are stored in oak barrels. With a selection of circa 200 wines hailing from Beaujolais to the Montrachet Grand Cru, one can hardly give a detailed account of their quality. Generally, the simple wines are well made and always above average, while the top wines often rank on the superior end of the scale. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

1 Magnum Bottle 1993 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

Lot 44: 1 Magnum Bottle 1993 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

by Auctionata

August 13, 2014, 6:00 PM CET

Berlin, Germany

Estimated Price: €560 - €700

Description: One magnum bottle of Château Mouton Rothschild 1993 vintage Pauillac Label design by Balthus (1908-2001) Original filling quantity: 1.5 l Fill level: high fill Robert Parker: 90/100 (1997) Wine Spectator: 90/100 (1996) Jean-Marc Quarin: 88/100 (2003) René Gabriel: 18/20 (2011) This lot comprises one magnum bottle (1.5 l) of 1993 vintage Château Mouton Rothschild from the Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux. The label was designed by controversial artist Balthus (1908-2001) and is an anomaly in the history of Château Mouton Rothschild labels: As this vintage label caused controversy in the United States, a second label without the nude portrait was produced for the American market. The Pauillac appellation produces some of the world's most highly-prized and expensive red wines. Situated to the northwest of the city of Bordeaux, near the Atlantic coast, its vineyards are located on dried-out swamplands. Vines take root in gravel dunes with subterranean clay lens. Here, Cabernet Sauvignon can develop a unique depth of taste and power, so the grape variety therefore makes up a large percentage of the Pauillac cuvées. The tannin-rich, powerful, concentrated wines require longer bottle-ageing in order to differentiate and reveal their taste. The Classification of 1855 put the vineyards of the Lafite-Rothschild and Latour estates ahead of the pack, awarding them Premier cru status. Mouton-Rothschild has also belonged to the club since 1973. In second place are the Deuxième crus of Pichon-Longueville-Baron and Pichon-Longueville-Comtesse de Lalande. For decades, however, experts have judged them as being at least on a par with their Premier cru counterparts. This is also the case for numerous other top wines from this appellation.Although it rained occasionally in Bordeaux during 1993, the vintage is today viewed as being underrated and full of surprises. This wine can undoubtedly be counted amongst those. The 1993 vintage Mouton was last awarded 90 points by Robert Parker in 1997. It received the same score in an edition of Wine Spectator magazine in 1996. Jean-Marc Quarin last scored the wine in 2003, giving it 88 points. René Gabriel rated the wine 18 out of 20 points in 2011. The fill level is outstanding (high fill). The label and capsule are in perfect condition. Château Mouton Rothschild Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac near Bordeaux is one of the most famous wine-growing estates in the world and is still privately owned by the Rothschild banking family. Today's estate is the legacy of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, who acquired it on October 22, 1922, when he was still a young man. By striving for excellence and constantly searching for new methods, he consistently improved the quality of the Château's output. His first innovation was to bottle the wine on the estate in order to determine all stages of production: "Mise en Bouteille au Château". His efforts were finally rewarded in 1973, when Château Mouton Rothschild was reclassified from Deuxième to Premier Cru (first growth) - the only change to have been made in the history of the official classification. Mouton has 82 hectares of vineyard area, made up of 77 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 12 % Merlot, 9 % Cabernet Franc and 2 % Petit Verdot. Château Mouton Rothschild lies on a slope that is thirty metres high in places. On this slope, a layer of more than eight metres of gravel lies on a calciferous base, coming from alluvial deposits from the nearby Gironde, in the Pyrenees, towards the end of the Beestonian stage. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety grows splendidly on this soil. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

This is also the case for numerous other top wines from this appellation. 1987 is an often underrated vintage and especially the best wine estates, like Château Mouton Rothschild, have produced wines that are surprisingly good. This wine is one of the best from this vintage and will surely be a pleasure to drink. The 1987 vintage Mouton Rothschild was rated 89 points by Robert Parker in 1993. Wine Spectator awarded the same score to this wine in 1990. René Gabriel rated the wine 18 out of 20 points in 2013.The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition.Château Mouton Rothschild Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac near Bordeaux is one of the most famous wine-growing estates in the world and is still privately owned by the Rothschild banking family.

12 Bottles 1992 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

Lot 50: 12 Bottles 1992 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

by Auctionata

Berlin, Germany

Estimated Price: €2,400 - €3,000

Description: Twelve bottles of Château Mouton Rothschild 1992 vintage Pauillac, Bordeaux/France Label designed by Per Kirkeby (b. 1938) Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: into neck Robert Parker (1994): 88/100 Wine Spectator (1995): 88/100 René Gabriel (2011): 17/20 This lot comprises twelve bottles of 1992 vintage Château Mouton Rothschild from the Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux. The label for this wine was designed by the Danish artist Per Kirkeby (b. 1938).The Pauillac appellation produces some of the world's most highly-prized and expensive red wines. This is also the case for numerous other top wines from this appellation.1992 was a difficult vintage in Bordeaux due to a rainy summer. The wines from this year are light and fruity. This wine is one of the vintage's best. The 1992 vintage Mouton Rothschild was rated 88 points by Robert Parker in 1994. René Gabriel rated the wine 17 out of 20 points in 2011. It was rated 88 points in a 1995 issue of Wine Spectator magazine. The fill levels are excellent (into neck).
