To Mr. Vitre, regarding an invitation to dinner; 2) Autographed letter signed ("W.C. Bryant"), one page, on a bifolium, New York, February 20, 1868. The poet and author (1794-1878) writes to "H. Cast," regarding a letter sent to John Bigelow c/o Messrs. Lippincott; 3) Autographed letter signed by actors Joseph Jefferson (May 15, 1898); 4) Autographed letter signed by actor Thomas Salvini (January 30, 1867). Size of largest 8 x 5 inches folded.

Condition Report: Born to a musically talented family in Sweden, Nilsson made her debut as Violette in La Traviata at the Theatre Lyrique. Many believe her to be the inspiration behind the character Christine Daae in Gaston Leroux's novel Phantom of the Opera. Although it is unverified, she is referenced in a number of other works of literature of that period. Transcription of second letter: My der Mr. Vitre, Since I still haven't had the pleasure of seeing [or meeting] you I'm afriad that you do not know my address in Paris. I would be happy to shake your hand and if you don't have anything of [importance?] to do come [..] dinner Monday night X May, without fuss ['sans facon'--has several meanings]. I would like to cause a [illegible...] formerly in London--we will seat ourselves at the table at 7:30pm. [illegible] [letter closing] Christina Nilsson.

Description: Political Autograph Lot 1970's. Bruce Babbitt, Bob Dole, other political paper: A great flat of political paper and autographs. There is a number of autographs from politicians in the late 1970's. Some are preprints, autopens, but worth a look. Noticed Bob Dole, George Wallace, Dick Thornburgh, Barry Goldwater, Howard Metzenbaum, and many others. Each of these photos comes with a letter from the Senator/Representative/Governors office. Also found 3 hand written letters from J. Buell Snyder who was a representative from PA in the 30's. These letters were to a woman named Edith. Also a couple early signed typed letters from Theodore Burton 1925 Rep from Ohio, and Albert Ritchie 1926, a governor from MD in 1926. Also some misc. paper all political in nature. A nice piece is a windshield pass to park at the White House for an event in the 30's. Great lot of paper for the political collector.

To Reverend William Harness, complimenting his style of oration and illustrating his views on religion: "Your screaming tendencies horrify me!!! My only complaint is that I don't think many people have your freshness, or vividness of repetoire [?] Anyhow on the 3rd of January we will be bound at the stake..." Together with original envelope addressed to Harness in Dickens' hand and signed ("Charles Dickens"). Framed and matted with engraving of Dickens. Letter laid down to mat. 5 x 3 3/4 inches visible.

Description: On July 15, 1955 Elvis, along with Scotty and Bill, performed at the Joy Drive-In Theater in Minden, Louisiana. The three performed on a borrowed flatbed truck as a stage positioned in front of the concession stand. John Cobb, who regularly attended the Louisiana Hayride, booked Elvis to play, and after the show Elvis was captured in an image sipping a Coke in the manager's house. Offered is a signed and inscribed autograph book page on which is written in blue ink, "To Tyler from Elvis Presley." In pencil up the left side of the autograph page is noted in pencil "Joy DriveInn - 1955 -" [sic]. The autograph page is accompanied by copies of articles and copies of images of Elvis during and after this performance. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The autograph book page measures approximately 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches (10.795 x 13.97 cm).

Condition Report: The autograph page is in remarkable condition given its age, with a very strong, clear inscription and signature.

Description: (CIVIL WAR ARCHIVE) SWOPE, MERRIMISS HARRIS An archive of 24 autographed letters signed, from Benjamin L. Harris and Joseph T. Harris of the 12th Ohio Infantry, and other relatives, primarily to Merrimiss (Mollie) Harris Swope between 1860 and 1871. Six letters are from brothers Benjamin L. Harris and Joseph T. Harris to their sister Mollie Harris Swope between 1861 and 1862. In these letters the brothers, who are located in western Virginia and were musicians for the 12th, complain about the conditions including the weather, and describe what they have witnessed, including in one letter, the Battle of Carnifex Ferry. The other 18 letters are written between Merrimiss and family and friends during the years 1860 and 1870. These letters include details of life during and after the war. Each letter includes its original envelope with stamp intact. Each with typed transcription.
