This operation was at the end of the second Compagnie des Indes (founded by John Law), at a moment that the company was in great difficulties. From what remained, the third Compagnie des Indes was founded a year later (14 April 1785).

Description: NSN. Cal 44. This is a wonderful relic revolver in inoperable condition, still loaded with 4 rounds and 4 percussion caps. This exact gun is one of only two relic battlefield recovered pistols shown in John Parson's and John du Mont's 1953 book Firearms in the Custer Battlefield. Remington Army revolvers were known carried by Indians at the Custer Massacre based on US Ordnance reports after the battle. PROVENANCE: William O. CONDITION: This relic with 6-11/16" bbl has an "as found" iron patina with trigger guard dark brown/green patina. Grips are still present though highly weathered and only about 50% or so intact. There is evidence of a row of tacks on each grip near butt, only small holes remain now as can be seen in photos. There are two rows of small holes (probably from Indian tacks, now long gone) one either side of each grip. There are no markings visible other than small inspectors mark on trigger guard. Description: John M. Swisher Third Class Debt Certificate Signed "Jno M. Swisher." One partially-printed page, 8.5" x 7.75", Austin, April 7, 1850. This certificate acknowledges that "M.K. Snell . . . filed with the Auditor and Comptroller a claim for a horse pushed into the Service in 1836 amounting to One hundred and fifty Dollars." Docketed on the verso. Smoothed folds are weakening and separating at the upper and lower edges; minor paper loss at the intersections. Spots of staining at the upper edge. Martin Kingsley Snell (1815-1865), a lifelong soldier and a native of Pennsylvania, enlisted in the New Orleans Greys in 1835 and soon found himself fighting for Texas independence at the Siege of Bexar. He was made a first lieutenant in the First Regiment, Regular Infantry, and participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. Later in 1836, he commanded the honor guard at the funeral of Stephen F. Austin. He continued to serve in the Army of the Republic of Texas as a captain until 1839. He then served as captain in the Regiment of Texas Rifle Volunteers during the first few months of the Mexican War, returning to Texas in late 1846 to recruit men for John C. Hay's first Regiment, Texas Mounted Volunteers. From 1848 until 1850 he was the postmaster for Houston. When the Civil War broke out, he joined the Confederate Army and served as a major.

Description: John Joseph Gotti, Jr. (October 27, 1940 – June 10, 2002), American mobster and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City, authentic, autographed handwritten letter (ALS), five pages, postmarked April 11, 2000. Known as "Dapper Don" for his flamboyant mannerisms and "Teflon Don" for his continuous evasion of the law, Gotti was finally convicted on charges of murder and racketeering in 1992. He received life without parole, and succumbed to cancer in federal prison in June of 2002. In a lengthy letter to Barbara DeCicco, daughter of mobster George DeCicco, longtime Capo in the Gambino crime family, Gotti writes from federal prison, in part: In part, "I'm happy that everything went well with [Barbara’s daughter] Gina’s surgery and that she healed as you put it 'beautifully.' As for the doctor being amazed – tell him its her good blood lines – and its great that she mat be interning with that accounting firm…As for your Sisters 6th Anniversary – I agree with everything you wrote. The 18th was my Franks 20th. As for that 'yellow weasel,' no I wasn't surprised – and I'm sure you could tell me things that would more than make my hair stand on end – the Government and him are 'birds of a feather,' and they deserve one another. I wont go any further on that punk … John's wife Kim is expecting in three weeks. It will be their 5th. John is well, as is the other 'Knuckle head' my son-in-law. As for me, I feel great! Of course there is no shortage of aggravation and craziness…" Measuring approximately 8.5 x 11, this letter is in fine condition.

Description: John B. "Handsome Jack" Koetters, original vintage Wanted Poster from the Chicago Department of Police. Koetters was a major suspect in the 1912 "Kraft Murder Mystery," accused of murdering Emma Kraft to death after checking into a Chicago's Saratoga Hotel under assumed names. Headlines such as "Woman Slugged; Left For Dead" painted the front pages of newspapers, a crime for which Koetter was found guilty, receiving a life sentence on April 1, 1914. Poster reads, "Wanted for Murder!" / John B. Koetters...Wanted for the murder of Mrs. Emma Kraft at the Saratoga Hotel in this city on November 14, 1912," posted by "John J. Halpin / Captain of Detectives, Chicago, Ill." Several pencil and ink notations appear on the poster, including: "Richard & _ / I wish you would do your best on this. Best regards to both. F. J. _" From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb_Ñés collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington. Measuring approximately 6.5 x 11, poster exhibits the expected age wear with toning, folds, some soiling, a few tears along the edges and a trimmed top edge.
