Davis writes to an unnamed army general ("My dear genrl.") in response to his request to Major [Josiah] Gorgas for additional artillery and ammunition, specifically, Howitzers. Description: TRUMAN HOWE BARTLETT Massachusetts/Vermont, 1835-1923 Carved marble bust of a young woman. Depicted with her hair parted in the center, swept back over her ears and tied in a knot, with loose curls flowing down her back. Signed on back "T. Bartlett 81" and "372". Estate of Ernest Rohdenburg III. Truman Howe Bartlett was born in Dorset, Vermont in 1835. He studied under Robert Eberhard Launitz in New York City and later in Paris, Rome and Perugia, Italy. He spent twenty-two years as an instructor in the architecture department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology while also operating a free art school for poor children. One of his best known works is the Horace Wells Monument in Bushnell Park in Hartford, Connecticut. Height 24".

First and only printing of this Cultural Revolution dictionary created for use as a tool and supplementary aid for studying the "Little Red Book," and used by high-ranking soldiers in dealing with foreign visitors and reporters to provide English translations for Mao's quotes, slogans, and poetry. The title was taken from a speech made by Chairman Mao on May 7, 1966, in which he declared that all intellectuals should be re-educated by the peasantry. Description: Offered is a letter from Robert Taylor to Colonel Parker dated December 28, 1958. Robert Taylor was a prolific and well-established film actor in Hollywood, with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In this typed letter, he responds to a previous letter from Colonel Parker. The letter states: "The answer to your letter of December 16th is ---'Yer damned right the sausage arrived and it's good --mighty good!' ---and if anybody tells you it ain't you should slug 'em! Seriously Colonel, thanx for your kind thoughtfulness---and I'm saving the name and address of the outfit who makes this stuff so's I can order more. Your special Xmas card also arrived and thanx again. We Taylors had a fine time on Xmas Eve and our young 'Monster', aged 3 1/2, is really starting to get into the spirit of things. My best to you and Elvis --- hope you had a fine Xmas too --- and that 1959 will be a great year for all of you. As ever, Bob." The letter is signed "Bob" and on cream-colored Robert Taylor letterhead. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated and original letter of authenticity from the 1999 Graceland Archives Auction. The letter measures approximately 8 3/4 by 6 5/8 inches (22.225 x 16.827 cm).

Condition Report: The letter is in excellent condition overall with only a slight outline of where the mat has rested in storage.
