The Venetian gondolas around the 17th century were commonly used for transportation around the Grand Canal in Venice. Today, they are used as an iconic boat for mostly tourism. It is available as a FULLY ASSEMBLED model ready to be proudly display as a piece of history. Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires many hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. The hull is beautifully painted in black and then varnished in several layers. The deck is decorated with several golden sculpture. Seating are and stern deck are painted in red. It has a gold plated ornament at the bow. The model comes with one black painted oar. A hand stitched pillow casing is tied up against the cockpit on the opposite of the red wooden seat. Verso betitelt sowie der Keilrahmen mit altem Venezianischem Händleretikett versehen. - Die Leinwand in der unteren Hälfte schwach gewellt, in der Bildmitte mit feinem Craquelé sowie mit leichten Druckspuren des Keilrahmens. Die Ränder rahmungsbedingt etwas berieben bzw. mit kleineren Farbausbrüchen. Dekorativ gerahmt. Der Bildnis-, Landschafts-, und Genremaler Willem Johannes Martens war Schüler bei Nikolaas Pieneman. Seit 1867 war er mehrere Jahre in Rom ansässig und lebte seit ca. 1890 in Berlin. Im vorliegenden Werk widmet sich der Künstler in Form der Darstellung eines Kircheninterieurs mit zwei jungen Messdienern und Hündchen dem Markusdom, einem der Wahrzeichen Venedigs. Oil on canvas. Two-times signed in black and red as well as dated (overlaying). Entitled on verso and with old Venetian dealers label on stretcher frame. - Canvas slightly weavy at lower half, at the center with slight craquelure and traces of pressure due to stretcher frame. Description: This is a Lakota Sioux Native American Indian beaded scabbard and Enoore Thomas Turner & Co Sheffield pre-1891 knife. The scabbard shows four beaded stars in red, white, blue, and a carnival iridescent nickel like beadsfom 1870-1890's venice glass trade beads with Elk sinew. This is done on Indian brain tanned and smoked hide. The scabbard is believed to be from circa 1900's. Overall length 10 3/8" (without fringe) and 6"fringe. The knife is 9 3/8" long.
