One electronically tested 18KT white gold ladies cast & assembled sapphire and diamond necklace with a bright polish finish. Condition is new, good workmanship. Seventeen and three-quarter inch length necklace features three tapering sapphire and diamond fringe transitioning into a diamond ribbon, terminating in a concealed clasp with safety bar. The necklace is reminiscent of the jewelry designs from the Art Deco Period. The Paris Exposition of Decorative Arts and Modern Manufacturers in 1925 gave the movement its name. The Art Deco Period is characterized with jewelry designs composed of bold geometric designs, & cubism. Trademark is AKMS. Identified with markings of "18K". Containing: Nine prong set rectangular step cut natural blue sapphires, measuring 10.00 x 5.00 x 2.70mm, 8%. bulge factor, approximate. Total Weight of 15.75ct., clarity is slightly included, type II, medium dark, moderately strong, blue color, (GIA B 6/4), cut is good. Transmitting light somewhat diffusely, transparent to translucent. Naturally occurring internal & external characteristics are present. Measurements & the color grade are an average for the group. Indications of laboratory high temperature diffusion treatment. Graded in the setting. Twenty-one prong set rectangular step cut natural blue sapphires, measuring 6.50 x 4.50 x 2.70mm, 8%. bulge factor, approximate. Total Weight of 21.42ct., clarity is eye clean, type II, medium dark, moderately strong, blue color, (GIA B 6/4), cut is good. Transmitting light somewhat diffusely, transparent to translucent. Graded in the setting. Six channel set rectangular step cut natural blue sapphires, measuring 3.50 x 2.50 x 1.90mm, approximate. Probably one of Cahoon's earlier works, as many pieces he executed in the 1940s were unsigned. Interior lined with 19th Century circus-related posters. Trunk with dovetail construction.
