Description: (2) RARE CHINESE PAKTONG INCENSE CLOCKS - 19th c Powdered Incense 'Seal' Clocks, in the form of multi-leveled small boxes with patterned perforated tops, the internal trays, in the form of a family or municipal seal, were filled with powdered incense that was known to burn at a certain rate, used for social and business events, even timing a concubine's visit in Japan. Remarkably, these were used into the 1920's. The lower compartments held tools, one of these retains the miniature shovel and dousing lid, has two different seal frames, is inscribed, 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 2 1/2", the other is 3 1/2" x 3" x 3", both in good condition.
