After five years in the music business, Donovan was at the height of his career; he initially approached Byrne about illustrating a collection of his poems, and then commissioned him to design the sleeve for an album of children's songs, released in 1971 as ''HMS Donovan''.

Description: Early Engraved Charles Daly Diamond Grade 10 Gauge Side by Side Damascus Barrel Shotgun This is a very attractive example of an early Charles Daly double barrel shotgun. The brown Damascus barrels have a single bead sight on the matte concave solid rib which is marked "CHARLES DALY EXTRA FINE DAMASCUS BARRELS DIAMOND QUALITY" . The dolls head extension is engraved with a shell design. The receiver, break lever, forearm hardware and trigger guard are engraved with fine English scroll with "CHARLES DALY" in a banner on each side of the receiver. The underside has a panel with two deer running in a plains scene in the center and two pheasants in a wooded scene at the front. The trigger guard has a wooded scene of a hunting dog scaring up two game birds. The matching serial number is marked on the lower tang, on the right side of the barrel flats, on the water table, inside of the forearm hardware and on the inside of the receiver. The barrels have 3 inch chambers with extractors. Double gold triggers, gold cocking indicators and tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE". Mounted with a nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut forearm with a ebony forend insert, and round knob pistol grip stock with teardrop checkered flats, serrated horn buttplate and silver initial oval. Length of pull is 14 1/2 inches. Manufacturer: Daly Charles Model: Diamond Grade BBL: 32 inch solid rib Stock: walnut Gauge: 10 Finish: brown/blue/casehardened Grips: Serial Number: 3368 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Excellent as professionally refurbished. The barrels retain 95% plus brown finish and show 99% of the Damascus pattern. 99% of the blue finish remains on the break lever and trigger guard. The receiver retains 98% bright case colors. The wood is also excellent with only light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
