Walfänger und Antarktis-Forscher, nahm an zwei Antarktis-Expeditionen teil, gründete 1904 den Ort Grytviken auf Südgeorgien, gründete die erste antarktische Walfanggesellschaft und setzte 1923 erstmals ein Walfang-Fabrikschiff ein (1860-1924). Eigh. Brief m. U. "C A Larsen". In norweg. Sprache. 2 S. Gr. 4to. Högda Bestum 18.XI.1922. Umfang- und inhaltsreicher Brief an seinen Schwiegersohn, den deutschen Arzt, Paläontologen und Forschungsreisenden Ludwig Kohl-Larsen (1884-1969), der später Reisen und Expeditionen ins Südpolargebiet und nach Afrika unternahm. Der Autor des vorliegenden Briefes, Carl Anton Larsen war der Kapitän des Schiffes "Antarctic", mit dem die schwedische Antarktis-Expedition unter Otto Nordenskjöld 1901-1903 unterwegs war. Das Schiff wurde im Weddellmeer vom Eis zerdrückt, so daß die Besatzung unter härtesten Bedingungen auf der Paulet-Insel überwintern mußte. - Sehr selten.

Description: Custom Schultz & Larsen M60 Bolt Action Rifle with Carved Left Handed Stock and Scope Manufactured in Otterup, Denmark, this rifle was manufactured without sights and is equipped with a Pecar Berlin variable scope on Buehler mounts. The left side of the receiver is marked "Schultz & Larsen Rifle Company / Otterup Denmark". Hinged floor plate and one piece stock with a checkered forearm, horn forend tip, pistol grip with a fancy white diamond inlaid horn grip cap, sling swivels and left handed cheek piece. The action is right handed. The stock has been relief carved with oak leaf and acorn panels at the forearm and a beautifully detailed stag running with an oak leaf and acorn border with a punch dot background. Manufacturer: Schultz & Larsen Model: M60 M60 60 BBL: 25 1/2 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 7x61 S&H Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 4197 Class: Modern Long Gun Condition: Very good, with 90% plus original blue finish. Displaying some scattered handling marks, small scratches and thinning finish at the muzzle. The wood is very good as embellished with detailed carvings and some scattered small handling marks. The scope is very good with some light handling marks and very clear optics. Mechanically excellent.

Description: Krieghoff Classic Big Five Left Handed Double Rifle in 500/416 with Schmidt & Bender Scope This Classic Big Five Double Rifle as manufactured by the Krieghoff, Heinrich, Gun Company. The Big Five Double Rifle is similar to the standard Classic rifle except it is available in the larger calibers. This particular rifle features a blade front sight on a raised ramp and a fixed iron rear sight on a quarter rib. The quarter rib is equipped with a Schmidt & Bender 1.25-4x20 scope. The barrels are finished blue and marked "500/416 N.E." on each flat, and the forward lug is marked with an "eagle/N" proof, "AA". The Ulm antler proof and "KRIEGHOFF/ULM" are on the right rear lug. Between the lugs is marked "416". The bottom of each barrel is "eagle/N" proofed, the right barrel is marked "749" and the left "001541". There is a sling swivel eye mounted on the underside and the barrels are equipped with an extractor. The trigger guard is finished in a flat blue, and box lock action and remaining parts are finished in satin coin. The action is lightly engraved with border scroll designs and is marked "KRIEGHOFF/CLASSIC" on the underside. This rifle also features polished double triggers and a large manual "Combi" cocking device on the upper tang. The rifle is mounted with a fancy European walnut Schnabel tip forearm and pistol grip stock with fine multi-point checkering, cheekpiece, sling swivel stud and solid black Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. Manufacturer: Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co Model: Classic-Rifle BBL: 23 5/8 inch solid rib Stock: walnut Gauge: 500/416 Nitro Finish: blue/coin Grips: Serial Number: 001541 Class: Modern Long Gun Condition: Excellent. The barrels retain 94% of the original blue finish with a few minor scattered scratches and dings. The action retains 94% of the original coin finish with a few minor dings on the underside. The wood is good with scattered scratches and dings overall. The scope has clear optics. Mechanically excellent.

Description: A very fine Gauge 1 model of a Great Western Railway Star Class 4-6-0 tender locomotive No.4016 'Knight of the Golden Fleece', scratch built by George MacKinnon-Ure to illustrate the 1908 design in 10mm scale from works drawings, with fully detailed cab and backhead fittings, the chassis with detailed leaf springs and axel boxes, fluted motion, twin inside and outside cylinders with linked valve gear, fitted drain cocks with associated pipework, cylinder lubrication, vacuum hoses, linkages, brake and sanding gear, detailed rivet work, fitted handrails, steps and lamp irons, painted in Great Western lined livery by Alan Brackenborough, 65cm long, 8.5cm wide, complete with display case. Illustrated on page 142 of A Train is for Life. These fine locomotives being a forerunner for the Castle Class and designed by George Jackson Churchward with four cylinders and built by The Great Western Railways at their Swindon Works.

Description: An extremely rare and historically important late 19th century cutaway instructional 71/4 inch gauge model of a Great Western Railway 805 Class 0-6-0 tank engine, built by the apprentices at the Wolverhampton Works, circa 1874, the rolling chassis is fitted with brass wheels on leaf and coil sprung axels, with barrelled coupling rods, wedged and bolted main bearing, hand operated brake gear with riveted frames and bolted horn plates, the cylinders are cut away to reveal pistons and valves with appropriate porting, the motion work comprises Stephenson's link gear with oval cranks jibbed and bolted, big and little ends, double-bar type crosshead guides, piston rods, tail shaft guide and pierced eccentrics, all bearing surfaces with lubricating points, the running boards are built up with splashers, the front buffer beam is of wood with correct pattern screw couplings, early type coal bunker all reflecting Wolverhampton building practice at that time, finished in correct GWR livery with dummy wooden smokebox and chimney, the paint on the model is believed to be the only remaining example of GWR Indian Red, the wooden smokebox and chimney stamped 'G.W.R Loco Running Dept. London' and the chassis with plate lettered 'G.W.R LOCO DEPT. SIX WHEELED COUPLED SHUNTING ENGINE SCALE 1½ INCH TO THE FOOT WOLVERHAMPTON', this original railway works demonstration piece remains in original unrestored condition.
