WINEHOUSE AMY: (1983-2011) English Singer &

Lot 338: WINEHOUSE AMY: (1983-2011) English Singer &

by International Autograph Auctions

April 26, 2014, 12:00 PM GMT

Heathrow, United Kingdom

Estimated Price: £1,000 - £1,200

Description: WINEHOUSE AMY: (1983-2011) English Singer & Songwriter. Emotional A.L.S., Amy (Civil) xx, four pages, small 8vo, n.p. [London], n.d. [February/March 2010], to Blake Fielder-Civil, on the printed stationery of The Langham. Winehouse, writing in a slightly erratic hand, states, in full, 'If I wrote to you in rhymes, like songs, then I'd have done ten albums already (THEN! PLEASE GOD; HOPEFULLY) I'd have your baby kicking to come out of me! Lucky. Blake do ya remember being at K[ey] WEST and saying/praying and looking forward to a future of fixing each other? It didn't seem then that the notion of picking each other up off the floor is co-dependant like you say we have a tendency to be. Blake - I know you know how much I LOVE youàààbut - (I really don't like saying "but" - ) Blakels we don't have to see co dependency as a bad thing. FIX ME! Let me fix you - (it scared me when you first said it) - truth is?? We've ALWAYS looked after each other: ALWAYS. You bring me up, you make me better AND when you do that, I naturally look after you in turn. What would I do without you? Really? Cos that's what I've been thinking over the last 2 days. I love, need, and survive off you; I love you. Your Gemmalicious McCivil. I belong to you.' Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Winehouse. The letter is enhanced at various points by seven love hearts in the singer's hand. Rare. VG At the end of February and beginning of March 2010 Winehouse took up residency in London's Langham Hotel while she waited to complete the purchase of her home in Camden. The use of the name "Gemmalicious McCivil" in the letter is a twist on a nickname that Winehouse adopted, particularly at times when she wished to communicate anonymously with her husband through social media networks.

Estimated Price: €1,500 - €2,000

Description: Joseph ROUMANILLE (1818-1891) poète provençal et libraire.

Unique and Rare Documented Special Order Deluxe Factory Engraved J. Ulrich Signed Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle with Maple Stock and Factory Letter

Lot 1031: Unique and Rare Documented Special Order Deluxe Factory Engraved J. Ulrich Signed Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle with Maple Stock and Factory Letter

by Rock Island Auction Company

May 3, 2014, 9:00 AM CST

Rock Island, IL, USA

Estimated Price: $35,000 - $45,000

Description: Unique and Rare Documented Special Order Deluxe Factory Engraved J. Ulrich Signed Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle with Maple Stock and Factory LetterThis is a very nice example of a rare Deluxe Winchester Model 1886 Rifle with signed factory engraving and numerous special order features. The rifle is accompanied by a letter from the Cody Firearms Museum that verifies the rifle configuration, caliber, 1/2 octagon barrel, plain trigger Winchester express sight, checkered pistol grip stock with cheek piece and "Made from maple party selected" and "Engraving $5 on receiver only". The rifle was received in the warehouse on December 3, 1890 and shipped to order number 21464 on December 4, 1890. The sides, top and bottom of the receiver and upper tang are factory engraved by Master Engraver John Ulrich. The engraving features delicate scrollwork and borders with distinctive interlinked rectangular motif (a similar design is on the John Ulrich engraved rifle illustrated on page 152 of "The Book of Winchester Engraving" by R.L. Wilson). The signature "J.ULRICH" is stamped in tiny letters on the lower tang behind the trigger. This rifle is mounted with a rarely encountered fancy grain XX maple stock with Style H checkering on the forearm and grip area, and a carved cheekpiece. In addition to the factory engraving and rare stock wood and configuration, the rifle has the rare combination of half round/half octagon barrel with full length magazine; part round barrels usually were fitted with short magazines. The barrel has a special order Lyman "Hunting" front sight with ivory insert and special order "Winchester Express" rear sight with three folding leaves and platinum sight lines. The top barrel flat is marked "-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN.CONN. U.S.A.-" ahead of the rear sight and "45-90 W.C.F." at the breech. "-MODEL 1886-" is marked on the upper receiver tang bordered by an engraved single line. In addition to the "J. ULRICH" signature, the bottom of the lower tang is stamped with the 1884 and 1885 patent dates behind the trigger and the script serial number "50121" ahead of the tang screw. The left side of the lower tang is stamped with the assembly number "333" followed by "XX" and "CM". "333" is also stamped in the upper tang inlet of the stock. All Winchester Model 1886 rifles with special order features are highly desirable. This rifle has several very rare features including signed factory engraving, maple stock and forearm with carved cheekpiece, half-round barrel and full length magazine.Manufacturer: WinchesterModel: 1886BBL: 26 inch part octagonStock: mapleGauge: 45-90 WCFFinish: blue/casehardenedGrips: Serial Number: 50121

Condition Report: Very fine. The barrel and magazine have 95% of the original blue finish with some thinning on the bottom of the magazine near the forearm. The bolt has nearly all of the original blue finish remaining while the loading gate has faded to a blue-gray patina. The forearm cap, receiver, hammer, lever and buttplate retain 75% of the period refinished casehardened finish. The case colors are slightly faded and the high points on the receiver, upper tang, lever and buttplate show traces of silver patina. There is some very fine and nearly undetectable handling pitting on contact points on the receiver, upper tang and lever. The delicate and flawlessly executed engraving is sharp. The stock and forearm are very good with light handling wear and finish loss on contact points. The diamonds on the checkered panels are slightly flattened and both the stock and forearm have some scattered and very minor handling marks. This is an outstanding fully documented Deluxe Winchester Model 1886 rifle with J. Ulrich signed factory engraving and an unusual number of rare and significant special order features including a maple stock.

A superb original cast with light patination, extremely fine. The medal is said to commemorate the end of the plague in Rome and was commissioned by Domenico Jacobacci. Clifford states the medal to be "probably the finest and most ambitious example of Italian medallic art of the seventeenth century". The involvement of Bernini is well documented; it was his idea to use the lion as a symbol of remembrance (the lion recognises the gladiator who had once pulled a thorn from its foot). A photocopy letter from Graham Pollard at the Fitzwilliam Museum (3 April 1987), states, "Your superb Alexander VII ... is of comparable quality to the museum example."
