Period engraved "No. 2" on the underside with period-engraved arms including a winged hourglass above and motto "In Time" below. 17"l., approximately 86 ozt. For a pair of Wakelin and Taylor tureens of nearly identical form, see Christie's (London), June 2011, lot 315.

Condition Report: "No. 2" engraved on both lid and base; retains internal wire screen; later engraved "Made in London AD 1791 by Wakelin & Taylor" on the underside. Good condition overall. Interior lip of lid having minor dent, otherwise good condition. Body with no dents or repairs, light scratches with heavier polishing at armorial device on lid. Condition Report: Good condition overall. Proper left side of upper case with one age split at top proper left corner approximately 2.5"l. Proper right side with two age splits each running perpendicular with the case, approximately 12-15"l. Doors, hardware and interior all in good condition - wear appropriate to age and use. Minor loss when lock mechanism meets opposite door. Fall front desk slightly lighter in color. some ink staining to interior. Replaced leather writing surface. Front of desk in good condition.
