WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 RIFLE 30WCF

by Brand Used Works

September 12, 2015, 11:00 AM PST

Fallon, NV, USA

Description: Up for auction is a WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 RIFLE chambered in the 30 WCF - The Winchester Model 1894 rifle (also known as the Winchester 94 or Win 94) is a lever-action repeating rifle that became one of the most famous and popular hunting rifles. It was designed by John Browning in 1894 and originally chambered to fire two metallic black powder cartridges, the .32-40 Winchester and .38-55 Winchester. It was the first rifle to chamber the smokeless powder round, the .30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire, in time becoming known as the .30-30). The Model 1894 has been referred to as the "ultimate lever-action design" by firearms historians such as R. L. Wilson and Hal Herring. ON this particular rifle the stock is broke (see pictures) with some love and attention this classic could be a fine piece.

Outstanding Presentation Grade Winchester Model 1917 Bolt Action Rifle from the Winchester Museum Collection

by Rock Island Auction Company

September 12, 2015, 9:00 AM CST

Rock Island, IL, USA

Estimated Price: $3,000 - $4,500

Description: Outstanding Presentation Grade Winchester Model 1917 Bolt Action Rifle from the Winchester Museum Collection This wonderful rifle is from the Winchester Museum and has its inventory tag numbered "198" still attached to the front sling swivel. This is an outstanding example of an all original, unaltered WWI era Winchester Model 1917 bolt action rifle. This outstanding rifle has the Winchester all blue finish with the beautiful Winchester oil finished walnut stock and handguard set. These early unaltered examples are extremely rare as they were the primary service rifle that were issued to U.S. Army and USMC units during WWI (even more than the 1903 Springfield) and almost all were later rebuilt during the start of WWII. This fabulous example is rarer still as it is unmarked with the serial number and standard Winchester "WP" proofs on the receiver and barrel. It is completely original with all of its parts being correctly manufactured by Winchester and having the correct "W" stamp. As noted, it has the original finger groove walnut stock without any markings. It is fitted with a matching Winchester handguard set. The front barrel band is correctly stamped with a "W" proof on the underside. It has the standard steel buttplate with trapdoor for the cleaning kit, (kit not included). Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1917 BBL: 26 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 30-06 Springfield Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 548234 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish, scattered light handling marks, and some slight thinning of the blue on the bolt handle. The wood is excellent with very attractive grain and striping, deep oil finished color and very minimal light indentations. Mechanically excellent. This is a true one of a kind rifle in virtually immaculate condition and would be a wonderful addition to any Winchester or military collection.

Rock Island, IL, USA

Estimated Price: $1,200 - $1,700

Description: U.S. Marked Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Carbine This is an example of a unique Winchester Model 94 with U.S. property markings manufactured circa 1930-1931. It is well known that the U.S. government purchased 1,800 commercial Model 1894s during WWI to arm the Army Signal Corps stationed in the Pacific Northwest. Others were purchased during the war and shipped to the Allies as part of the Lend-Lease before the U.S. officially joined the war effort. This carbine was obviously produced too early for the latter purpose and too late for the earlier use and may have been purchased for federal prison guard or military base use during the inter-war years. In addition to the standard markings on each side of the barrel at the breech end, the Ordnance Department bomb proof is marked on the top of the receiver at the breech directly to the right of the Winchester oval proof, and "U.S." is to the left. The carbine has a pinned blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, and standard carbine forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 94 BBL: 20 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 30 WCF Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 1079623 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Very good. The rifle retains 40% of the original blue finish and has a gray patina on the exposed surfaces of the frame. The reoiled lightly sanded wood is very good with some minor dings and slight scratches. The action is excellent, and the markings are crisp.
