Estimated Price: €3,600 - €4,500

Description: Lambda color print; laminated on Alu-Dibond Germany, 2000; printed in 2008 Wolfgang Joop (b. 1944) - German fashion designer, artist and journalist Signed by the artist on Lumas edition certificate - will be delivered separately Number 77 from a limited edition of 100Sheet size: 140 x 100 cmVery good conditionProvenance: Private property, GermanyWolfgang Joop's drawings are deeply related to paintings by Tamara de Lempicka, known for her impressive characterizations of the 1930s. Besides, he seeks inspiration from the expressive and slightly disruptive compositions by Egon SchieleWolfgang Joop's drawings are meant to be 'art for art's sake'. They are presented on vibrant background colors, but do not claim any deeper meaning. The drawings are designed to look as if they had been executed almost without effort. In return, Joop tries to capture his personal concept of beauty which is deeply inspired by the zeitgeist. The present work 'Black Men's Fashion - Back From N.Y.' is an interesting example of Joop's artistic approach and captivates through its reduced and yet confident style. The Lambda color print is in mint condition. It is number 77 from a limited edition of 100 copies and has been laminated on Alu-Dibond. The image size is equal to the sheet size of 140 x 100 cm. The LUMAS edition certificate with all typographic indications on the work is enclosed and has been signed by the artist 'W Joop'.Wolfgang Joop (b. 1944)Wolfgang Joop was born in Potsdam in 1944. He studied advertising psychology, art and art education at different locations in Germany. In 1970, Joop and his future wife Karin won a fashion competition launched by the magazine 'Constanze'. Joop then worked as a fashion editor and freelance designer for various fashion companies in Italy, France and Germany. In 1982, Joop was able to present his first Prêt-á-Porter women's collection, which was followed by his first men's collection in 1985. Besides, Joop has also been active as a visiting lecturer in the department of design at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin; in 1987, he was finally awarded the title of Honorary Professor. In the same year, the designer founded the JOOP! GmbH, in which he was involved until 2001. Today, Wolfgang Joop is the owner of the trademark 'Wunderkind' (founded in 2003). He is also engaged in charity work and occasionally writes for a number of newspapers and magazines. (cbo) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. by Auctionata

October 22, 2014, 6:00 PM CET

Berlin, Germany

Estimated Price: €800 - €1,000

Description: Ceramic, green-gray shards, blued, glazed Germany, c. 1905 Design: attributed Erica von Scheel (1861-1966) - painter, sculptor, graphic artist, ceramist, as well as textile and fashion designer, student of Henry van de Velde Long rectangular shape with four transverse ridges inside and a lid with curved handle Décor in relief and in parts blued with meandering, curly ornaments Dimensions: 14 x 8 x 6 cm (LxWxH) Good condition A quite decorative lidded vessel by Erica von Scheel, a student of Henry van de Velde, who presented her artistic work at numerous exhibitions in the country and abroad Erica von Scheel was a master student of Henry van de Velde, which is evident due to the typical curved shapes of the décor. General characteristic for Belgian Art Nouveau are the more abstract curved shapes, in contrast to the floral decorations, which were very popular in France. The design was probably made in the arts and crafts seminar in Weimar while attending the class of Henry van de Velde. The lidded box is overall in good condition. The lid does not quite fit the box and shows tiny glaze-flaws within the décor. Otherwise of good impression. Dimensions: 14 x 8 x 6 cm. Erica von Scheel (1861-1966) Erica von Scheel studied at the Berlin School of Painting under Martin Brandenburg, Hans Baluschek und Ulrich Hübner. In 1902, she attended the arts and crafts seminar in Weimar and became a student of Henry van de Velde, later his master student and assistant. She constantly continued her studies in various categories of the arts and crafts and participated among others at the 1904 World's Fair and the third exhibition of the German Künstlerbund in 1906.
