June 19, 2015, 10:00 AM EST

Fairfield, ME, USA

Estimated Price: $650 - $950

Description: It is not too often that a bear comes fresh to the market from the original owner, please read her story below. This little fellow has glass eyes, unfortunately he needs a patch over his left eye socket. He retains his original script Steiff button in the ear and perhaps through the years of loving, he has an expression that is quite appealing. His head and nose tilt slightly to the left, thus giving him a quizzical look or perhaps a look of understanding. His white fur is somewhat matted with some loss overall, most notable to a little on his tummy and in the center of his back by his shoulders. A cute bear but a great story. SIZE: Standing is 11" (28cm). Sitting is 8-1/2" (22cm). PROVENANCE: This Steiff bear was a gift to me when I was born August 25, 1925. My German paternal grandparents gave it to me. We were constant companions for three years while my parents tried to find help for me, I was born without a left hip socket. I do not recall when my little companion lost his eye. Maybe it was from too much cuddling? I will be 90 in August and I am seeking a good home for him as I need to dispose of my lifelong treasures in order to meet my expenses. I am hoping that someone will love him as much as I have over the past 90 years. --Ailene Beady. CONDITION: As stated above, felt pads overall are very fine, left foot pad has some minor loss. Otherwise he is a good solid bear in search of a new home. 49037-1 WTP

PRECIOUS AND EARLY APRICOT STEIFF TEDDY BEAR WITH IDS.

by James D. Julia

June 19, 2015, 10:00 AM EST

Fairfield, ME, USA

Description: This circa 1907 Steiff Teddy bear is made from the most delightfully colored apricot mohair which only adds to his glowing personality. PROVENANCE: From a fine collection. CONDITION: As noted. General mohair thinning and loss, especially on limbs and forehead. Some excelsior separation in limbs. Very small open seam on shoulder.
