1956 Elvis Presley Enterprises RCA Victor Model 7-EP-45 Record Player

by The Auction at Graceland

August 13, 2015, 7:00 PM CST

Memphis, TN, USA

Estimated Price: $500 - $1,000

Description: In 1956, to commemorate its recording contract with Elvis, RCA offered an Elvis signature series of its popular 1955 portable EY series record players. The Elvis signature series is blue vinyl with a light blue tweed lid, white interior and white volume and tone finger wheels, while the tone arm and matching spindle top are tan in color. The lid has two snap arm closures on either side and a clear plastic carrying handle. The RCA Victor logo is in white on the front plaid cloth and Elvis Presley's printed signature is in gold at the top front right corner. The interior has the original gold sticker listing the model number as 7-EP-45 and the serial number RVG 003375. This model proved not as popular as the EY series and therefore is much scarcer today. This portable Elvis signature series 45 record player enabled the enthusiast and fan to listen to the king on the go. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The record player measures approximately 7 1/4 by 12 by 12 1/2 inches (18.41 x 30.48 x 31.75 cm).

Condition Report: The record player is in exceptional condition overall with only minor wear spots to the top of the lid consistent with age. The brass closures and hinges exhibit patina from age and the corners of the player are worn

Coverlet, Mills, Blue & White, exhibited 1936

by Louis J. Dianni, LLC

August 8, 2015, 12:00 PM EST

Garrison, NY, USA

Estimated Price: $50 - $150

Description: Antique and Collectables Category: Textiles And Clothing Description: One complete(two pieces not attached) coverlet exhibited at Dover Day(Delaware) and documented in a letter and photograph. The letter is signed by David Reyam, Supervisor, Index of American Design. Penned on the Material: Wool Maker/Artist: Mills Date: mid-19th century Provenance: Elizabeth Mills Drexler History: Bed quilts and coverlets, appliquéd, pieced, embroidered, or woven, are some of the few handmade objects that were created by American women to express their artistry and skill. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, women of all social strata made quilts and coverlets. Although many of these were meant to be primarily utilitarian, they were often designed to be pleasing to the eye as well, and sometimes they were imbued with significance far beyond being simple covers for a bed. During the heyday of quiltmaking in the nineteenth century, America's increasingly mobile population was moving westward, settling in the wilderness. Easily portable, and certainly necessary, bedcovers might be some of the few decorative objects a woman had in her home. Bedcovers were often wedding gifts, or made by a young woman to take with her to her future husband's house. If that new home was distant from friends and family, a bedcover became an important keepsake from her old life. Quilts were also made to celebrate the birth of a child, as gifts to thank important members of the community such as the local minister, and even sometimes in the remembrance of the dead Dimensions: H 83 in W 66 in D 0.5 in Size of Artwork: Weight: 6.8 pounds Condition: Separated two halves, can be sewn back together with no damages. Limited Edition Of: 75 - "head Five Miles That Way,...and Then Go Five Miles That Way,... ’bring Back Every Critter Ya Find!" “i Was Part Of A Brand Crew In North East Wyoming And South East Montana Around The Turn Of This Century. We Were Gathering 10,000 Acres At A Time, On A Ranch That Covered Several Counties And Two States. As We Headed Out That Morning Towards The Montana Bad Lands, The Boss Told Us To Head Out Five Miles That Way . . . Etc. I Was Wondering How We Were Supposed To Know When We Reached Five Miles? After All, My Roots Are Back East Where 100 Acres Is A Big Farm. “nevertheless We Gathered Up Everything We Found And Headed Them Back To The Portable Corals Set Up Near The Camp. We Had A Chuck Wagon, Ranch Bedroll Wagon, A Remuda Of Horses And We Slept In Wall Tents On The Prairie. We Moved Camp About Every Other Day, Covering 20 Some Miles Between Camps. As I Recall We Branded 300 Cows A Day For About Two Weeks. “the Country We Were Working Was So Rough, Yet Beautiful And Vast. It Really Impressed Me As To The Scale Of The Workplace Where We Were Going To Spend The Days Ahead, Gathering The Cow Calves For Branding. From Ridge Montana (population About 15) Up To Rocky Point And Lightning Flats, I Have The Greatest Memories Of Some Of The Roughest Countryside. Made on the occasion of her 13th birthday.Material: WoolMaker/Artist: Rhoda Hoffman?Date: 1843Provenance: CT estateHistory: Rhoda Hoffman, b. 7 October 1830, d. 7 August 1870Bed quilts and coverlets, appliquéd, pieced, embroidered, or woven, are some of the few handmade objects that were created by American women to express their artistry and skill. Quilts were also made to celebrate the birth of a child, as gifts to thank important members of the community such as the local minister, and even sometimes in the remembrance of the dead.
