A flintlock pistol by Buckmaster, dating: mid-18th Century
Smooth, round, 15 mm cal. barrel, outlined at the base, slightly bell-mouthed at the nozzle, with remains of two marks of English test benches; plate with roundish plate, twice outlined at the margins and signed "BUCKMASTER"; walnut full stock (a restoration in front of the lock, a break and a part missing at the butt); smooth, brass mounts, brass-tipped wooden ramrod. See "Der Neue Stockel", Vol. 1, page 158: three Buckmaster are documented in London (Joseph, William and Robert) between 1720 and 1763.
