Description: serial #293822, 8x57JR, 23 3/4" Krupp Laufstahl barrels with bright excellent bores.The barrels retain about 95% original blue, the loss due primarily to fading along the right edges forward of the sling swivel.The full-length rib is caliber marked and features a simple bead sight with a single standing leaf fixed rear sight, there are a small handful of minor dings along the sharp edge of the rib.The barrels show light geometric and scroll at their breeches.The frame shows near full coverage excellent quality tight scroll and geometric borderline engraving with game scene vignette's left and right of a bellowing German stag and buck and doe chamois.The frame is primarily a mottled smoky case-hardened patina which is very pleasing showing generous traces of fading colors in the protected areas.The checkered European walnut stock features a rounded shadowline cheekpiece with a scalloped bone pistolgrip cap.The splinter style forend shows some nice checkering, both it and the buttstock rate excellent.The rifle features cocking indicators, a single-set right-side trigger and European-style sling swivels.The length of pull to the 1/2" rifle pad is 13 3/4".The lockup is tight on this January 1940-proved quality German double rifle.(34522-4) {C&R}
