Description: serial #17535, .31 cal., 7 1/2" octagon barrel with a mint bore. This revolver is beautifully engraved in the proper early style Dragoon engraving with loose flowing scroll on the frame, barrel, hammer and grip frame. The quality of the engraving, polish and finish is superb and the bottom of the frame is marked with the stylized letter "k" which adorns all Klay Colts. The barrel and cylinder retain 99% wonderful original charcoal blue finish. The frame and hammer retain 99% vivid original color case-hardened finish. The grip straps retain 99% original silver plated finish. The fancy burl walnut grips retain virtually all of their original glossy varnish. All screw heads remain perfect and retain all of their original fire blue finish. The revolver comes cased in a lovely mahogany case that is a perfect replica of the original Colt cases right down to the scribe marks around the hinges and the fire blued hinge and lock screws. The accessories are perfect replicas including copper eagle flask, two cavity brass mould, blued combination tool, a tin of Eley caps and some moulded projectiles. The condition of the case is excellent with a couple light scratches on the lid. The majority of these Klay Colts were 1851 Navies, other models such as this Baby Dragoon are extremely rare. A wonderful example of extremely fine 20th century craftsmanship. (15560-9) {ANTIQUE}
