Description: French Gras Model 1874 11mm rifle, and associated bayonet patented 1874
serial number L79133; bolt action, walnut stock, blue finish, marked "S1878" on right barrel flat, "MANUFACTURE D'ARNES ST. ETIENNE M80" on receiver, many small inspector's marks on most parts; together with Model 1874 bayonet, marked "Mre d'Armes de St. Etienne Mai 1878", serial number M93270 on bayonet, M15286 on scabbard.

Provenance: Property deaccessioned from the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas at El Paso to benefit the Museum Collections Fund. (Accession #999990010302 and H666 on rifle, 56.12.2 on bayonet). Brass plaque with State of Texas Inventory #724-16651 riveted to the buttplate.
