Description: 1701 of tapered cylindrical form, engraved with arms in strapwork cartouche, decorated with cut-card work at the base of the serpentine covered spout and handle sockets, the detachable, vertically fluted domed cover secured by a chained hinge-pin, scroll thumbpiece and hinged baluster finial, the scroll handle applied with cut-card silver band, centrally ribbed, marked on body and cover, the base with scratch weight 23.5.-, 23 ozs. 10 dwts. gross. height 9 1/4 in. (23.5 cm.) Provenance: Marshall Field & Co., Chicago, 1957. Richard George Meech, Q.C., sold Sotheby's New York, October 22, 1993, lot 59.
