Literature Schofield, A. and Fahy, K., "Australian Jewellers, 19th and Early 20th Century" David Ell Press Pty Ltd. 1990 p22 Simeon Lord 1771-1840 Simeon Lord born Yorkshire, England, 28 January 1771. In 1790 Simeon was charged with theft and was sentenced to seven years transportation to Australia. In 1798 Lord became a free man and through wise investments worked his way up to become one of the most influential merchants in Sydney. In 1814 he married Mary Hyde with whom he already had five children. They continued to reside in Macquarie Place, Sydney before later moving to Banks House, Botany.
