In 1790 Simeon was charged with theft and was sentenced to seven years transportation to Australia. In 1798 Lord became a free man and through wise investments worked his way up to become one of the most influential merchants in Sydney. In 1814 he married Mary Hyde with whom he already had five children. They continued to reside in Macquarie Place, Sydney before later moving to Banks House, Botany.
